Hi I need some help. I am trying to link up my mp3 player to my pioneer head unit, but I don't know where to get a lead to connect it to. I've been looking around on sites, but I can't find anything. This is the only thing i have found so far, but the plug doesnt look like it would fit into the mp3 player. http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/3037.html

It's a DEH-1700R Pioneer. Thanks for any help.

You could use something like this:
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=34196&TabID=1&source=17&WorldID=&doy=27m11

Gold-Plated 2 Phono Sockets to 3.5mm Stereo Plug Adaptor

http://www.maplin.co.uk/images/133/34196i0.jpg

Then you can connect the phono cables to the headphone or line out jack on your device. (Assuming its the phono end of the cable on CarAudioSecurity that connects to the external device)

I think its the red/black plugs that would go onto the back of my cd player, but the plug on the other end wouldn't fit into an mp3 player? I dont think there is a headphones socket in the back of my cd player, i'll have to get it out and have a look.

Thanks for that link though

I have a Pioneer headunit and that aux interface. The square end goes in to the back of your headunit, in the aux-in socket. Then grab a cable to connect those two (red and black) in to one that will plug in to the mp3 player (mine was from Maplins, about ?3 and around 2 metres long so I could run it wherever I wanted to).

I can take pics of the connections tomorrow if you want..?

Thanks

It says http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/3037.html is for the P series headunits so i might need to get a newer headunit? Ill have to check to see if have the square plug in the back, its akward getting it out because the wires on the back dont reach properly

Thanks for that

Looking at your headunit, it won't be compatible with stuff like an ipod. It's a fairly old desing so you may be better off upgrading to a new unit from, dare I say it, Halfords! They have quite a few deals on where you can get a headunit with the neccessary lead to connect.

My suggestion would be something like this:

Coupled with one of these:

^ I have that headunit, I thoroughly recommend it.

Not sure if the above IP-Bus connecter is necessary (?80) when you can get an aux-in cable for around ?20 to do what appears to be the same job.

Thanks for the help.

I've looked at other headunits and found http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/3243.html which is quite a bit cheaper, so i will probably go with this one and buy the aux interface for ?20.
