Whats the budget for car and insurance, and what kinda car are you thinking of getting?

I'm quite partial to starlet turbos at the mo... 8)

Or you could get a Celica, Gen5 and 6 GT's are pretty cheap at the mo and good power for the insurance cost

Tracie - Yes its me in the pik.

I was looking at somthing like a cav gsi, bmw 318/320, anything along the lines of that really. Could be tempted with a corsa tho or maybe a clio16v civic etc etc.

Get a 200SX! You can get a S14 2L Turbo for ?2000 - ?3000 95-96 comes with 200bhp, RWD, black leather and A/C and 1250kgs. See www.sxoc.com or www.autotrader.co.uk!

They run forever and are one of the least common Jap cars and 260-280 bhp comes in for ?700-?900. See here for library of power figures: http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=123910

I gotta call from my cousin last night...a car he,s serviced for a couple of years has been passed to a family member from its original owner . The lad who took it on , dropped it 40mm and slapped a set of 17s on it . Its a ford escort , L plate 1.4 convertable in metallic blue . Cousin doesnt know the rims ect and is gonna really check it over next week. He hasnt touched the car for a while so he reackons to be cautious. The owner is desperate for cash and wants ?1100 private sale , but will let it goe to my cusin for what its cost him - he,s that desperate - ?700.
What a feckin time to be out of work !!
Fingers crossed the interviews I,ve had of late will come good , and the motor is worth the money - if so I,ll go for it.

To defend my S14a, these are the rarer ones!
For ?5k you get a 99 or 00 plate and 200 bhp, which can be driven every day, don't have gay pop up headlamps like MR2's, can manage 33 mpg, RWD, beige leather, gp 17 ins and can be tuned to 300bhp with out much hassle/money I spent over ?800 on my engine and I got 10bhp & 20 lb/ft (inc. rebuild). I spend ?800 and get and extra 60-80bhp and similar torque, I know what I'd rather!

I'd say they were underrated, I keep getting "nice skyline" comments from all sorts! lol

Not keen on the S13 tho' these seem to be the more "common" ones (late 80's-early 90's). On the south coast I see far more scoobys than 200sx's

I'm sure most would rather spend ?5k on a project nova or something which would be much quicker in the short term. I don't want to spend weekends under the car or at a scrap yard ripping bits off a fuct nova/astra/cav, I've been there and done that!

Rant over.
:)
