looks good nik, jus make sure its colour coded or suits the colour coz the black bumpers on that look nasty :S i just got a 1.4 sr exhaust , filter, and it was alot quicker than i expected,

how much are you spending on breaks, i was thinking about getting mine done

oh yes! in standard form the 1.4SR is surprisingly fast for an old car!

A standard on in the dry can give a standard VTR a run for its money, until you reach around 90+ then its game over nova so to speak

i just baught some breaks actually mate, 16v ones. there well good i think thayv just worn in now so there wicked. paid ?100 for them and that was with brand new discs and pads.

yer this used to be my brothers and he was neck and neck with a vtr until it reached top end.

excellent mate! lol i dont condone racing, as ive already 3 points for the privledge of being caught for it!

Ive found that 1.6 GSi brakes with brembo pads + disc's are far better than a) standard SR one b) 2ltr ones?

may just be me? but i got the lot got under ?60.00, recon calipers with pads and new disc's of ebay

SRlew

that was including postage aswell so im not to botherd and im happy with them. the 2.0 ltr one are a fair bit bigger, when i put the wheel back on i caught my finger in between the calliper and wheel! bloody hurt!

well took some pics. it doesnt look to good but then again its getting a re-spray :D

:o dont remove the vynal!

especially the rear hatch.

Theyre rare as f00k nowadays because on most modded novas these are the 1st bits to go.

The mk1 really suits the vynal (unless you need to derust the doors and lower sill area).

I've got a mk2 but I'm really starting to like the old mk1 - it looks "hard" unlike the softer "gurly" GSi's

Keep it vynalled and true to its roots - man

ade i know what you meen mate i wanted to keep it sooo much but there was rust under it from where it had like chipped and stuff and around the wiper hole. so it had to come off really.
someone baught a standard mint white 1.4sr and it had no rust anywhere and the vynal was mint and guess what he f**king took it all off, i actually felt depressed, to be honest i couldnt actually take mine off i got my brother to get it over and done with.

well drove down monday morning, cleaned the car and then let it dry over night,
tuesday, my dad done all the welding and filling, and my brother took some vynal off while i sanded my bumpers.
wednesday it got sanded and primed.
thursday it got sprayed.
friday i put it all together while we had the light on it to get it dry.
then friday dinner time i was driving it.

didnt spray the roof yet though as we didnt have that much time but its getting done next time im down.

went and took pics of it on the saturday, so will get them developed tomorrow as i took them with my SLR camera.

looks well good though i think, you carnt notice any differance in paint between the roof and the rest of it so its alright.

it was a full on strip down job, just a basic one if you know what i mean.

please dont put any bad comments down untill you see the pics tomorrow at least.

cheers, lew

also, im now deciding if i should get dark grey wheels (anthracite) to match the unpainted parts, which you'll see what iv left tomorrow, keeps it looking like an sr not a gte.
my brother got his wheels sprayed gloss black while my car was getting done. so ill see what his looks like on his red xr2.

been thinking about buying grey comp MO's brand new in 15's and lowering the back by 80mm aswell.

Should have kept the bottom part of the front bumper grey to match the skirts and rear bumper like it is on the GTE and also would paint the grill but looks good apart from that.

SRlew
06-12-05, 05:28 PM
well im getting a splitter for the front bumper and that'll be unpainted, so it'll look a bit better.

and i was debating about the grill for a while, but im off to buy another one and get it colour coded so then i can choose which one i want.

also shall i do the mirrors red? (leaving the baseplates black)

cheers, lew
