Filled in the online quotation form and recieved this reply, they advertise as being for modified cars!:

Dear Sir

We thank you for taking the time to complete an online quotation enquiry.

Unfortunately the details entered into the system do not fit the required
criteria for our specialist schemes.

However, if the vehicle is standard or only has a few minor modifications, we
would recommend that you contact A Quote on 0800 298 2836 who should be able to
provide a competitive quotation for you.

Additional Information:
We do not quote for Vauxhall Nova's due to our bad claims experience on this
model.

Sorry we are unable to help.

I used to be insured with Greenlight, they were pretty good a few years ago then price went up dramactically. When I told them I was changing insurers they told me they wouldn't be able to re-insure a nova for me.

Well it doesn't surprise me. Yes, there are a lot of Nova enthusiasts (such as the people on this site), but there are also a lot of bum loving chav monkeys that drive nova's like complete morons and write them off within weeks of owning them.

If i owned an insurance company i would either;
A.) Charge extortionate prices to insure them
B.) Refuse to insure them in the first place

They stopped taking on new clients with Novas few years ago.
They got stung bit time over Nova's with agreed values. People were getting agreed values for over 10k then mysteriosly the cars were going missing very soon after.

They spoilt it for eveybody else.
Priviledge seem ok if your looking for insurance quotes.

i don't see how you can say that Phil. People committing fraud is hardly the insurers fault.

Imagine buying a breeze blue SR, and using photo's of say Brett Warburtons car (when it was breeze blue) and fake bills for ?thousands and getting an agreed value, then the car is "stolen"

So you stump up ?500 for SR, ?800 for insurance, a bit of time faking bills and then, with balls of steel, you rake in ?10,000 minus your excess.....

Easy done, and according to Neil Feheely (who's an underwriter at greenlight) WAS done to another insurace company......

you could do that with any car though! Just think its daft that they exclude novas, its discrimination.

Discrimination or not, they can do what they like - its up to them at the end of the day what cars they do/do not insure. And to be fair, novas do have a reputation, and a lot of claims to their name.

These cars have an unfortunate reputation , which has developed by lunatic new , and young drivers .
I think the term " boy racer " is often quoted towards Nova owners -either that or "chav " .
More than wouldnt insure mine , due to lowered shocks ( a mere 30mm ) I,ve gotta admit at 38yrs of age I would have expected cover from them .
But these cars do carry a stigmatised label - tis a shame but in certain cases its remains true , therefore I,m not surprised certain companies will shy away from covering the Nova.

Pity a few idiots who,ve managed to tar the reputation of responsible drivers.......

I was once offered insurance by a chap who swore he worked for an Italian firm called the Mafia .He also said that the insurance they provided was like giving oral sex to a woman - one slip of the tongue and I,d be in the sh*t .!!
