How the fuck do you get the pulley off? Tried it with a breakers bar and it just turns the engine. Tried holding it at the camshaft bolt but the camshaft bolt just undoes itself instead!

It's a mk2 1.4i and the waterpump is buggered. Any help appreciated!

put the car on the floor put it in gear and then use a braker bar

Cheers! Solved it another way - wedge breaker bar on car body whilst attached to the bolt, spin starter over.

RESULT!

lol, sounds dangerous.

Could always get a long bar and hit with hammer.

Or 'air tools' :D

Yeah, just get the breaker bar tight to the ground, and flick the starter on.
Works everytime.

Just make sure you tighten it back up enough

or lock the flywheel using an allen key like most non cowboys lol

you can get a purpose made tool from draper for a few quid which'll lock the fly in a similar way too.

Haha, thing is I can't get anywhere to get any tools so I've got to make do with what I've got! I'll probably tighten up the pulley bolt as much as I can myself then take it to a garage to get them to torque it up good and proper :D

I managed to get a breaker bar to tighten it through the top of the engine bay, theres not much room underneath to turn a socket and bar.
