Mmm, I saw this and posted on CCUK but didn't bother on here as I wouldn't have thought it would affect most Novas

I notice a difference in the '4 with optimax - engine seems to run smoother although this could be psychological. MPG seems to be better though.

I thought Tesco's 99RON was the same as Optimax, just Tesco's aren't as reserved with the RON rating?

I used some of that bp"ultimate Deisel" in my ren19tdi today, and fuck it smokes like a shiter now

Used the optiemax in the nova with xe and it did seam better, but at the mo i dont get many miles per pounds as the TB's are not set up,its just bunging ti stright out the bcak and pop bang flames, about 1mile per pound

Yup, but I have heard talk that Tesco's round up the RON rating where as Shell round it down... dunno how true that is though.

2 other cars they tested.

Renault Megane

81bhp for all 3 petrol types.

New VW Golf GTi
Optimax was 2 bhp more than Ultimate and Ultimate was 3 bhp more than Supermarket.

Didn't give torque figures.

I Think thats because standard EU fuel has less octains than wot the jap cars are set up for, i work for Honda and our Type Rs Accords and S2000 are the same but the rest of the are ok bcause thay are made in swindon and set up for EU fuel!

and yank fuel is even "worse" than ours by comparrison to jap fuel which is why most of the fast jap cars in the states need turbos etc to get semi decent power from them etc lol

last time i used BP optimax, my SR ran like a bag of nails. it had no power at all! :|

I find tesco is best for my nova??

When I had my GSi I did a power-run at novatech and got 92bhp, the chap told me to go fill up with optimax, I came back all filled up and it run 100bhp dead.
That was all the convincing I needed!

yanks have 2 or 3 octanes don't they? Starting from high 80's or low 90's i think.
