whats your point the 4x4 gets a better launch but the lighter car accelerates quicker once it gets traction. no real suprise. the evo dusts it on the corners and braking though so evo every time for me thanks

I still say fair play to the RST.

I however don't hold much stock by just going fast in a straight line. I still reckon that if you can pass stuff on a track then you get a few more bragging rights.

Firstly, I'm not sure what the point of this post was since this isn't an Evo or Ford site. Secondly, it's not like the RSTurbo is standard, it's heavily modified:

It runs almost 2 Bar of boost and the Injectors are practically maxed out at over 3 Bar Fuel Pressure.

It also has 330mm AP Brakes with Brembo 4-Pot Calipers. The Brakes have been fully repiped in Steel Braided TFE Hose with Front/Rear incar Bias Adjustment.

The suspension has been fairly heavily changed too, including a Turbo Technics ARB Conversion with Adjustable Tie Bars and TCA's.

It's an impressive feat of engineering, but we see this sort of thing every day with modified novas keeping up with (and beating) cars that would wipe the floor with a standard Nova.

I too think this is a pointless post. An EVO FQ340 cant be tuned to over 400bhp for not a lot more than ?2.5k and will be much more driveable than the 'ultimate' FQ400 daddy. Looking at the spec of the RST you could of bought an EVO for that money and the EVO will be a much better car and more fun to drive, rather than just fun in a straight line. I have driven a few EVO's standard and tuned and they are great to drive. I know which I would choose between that and an Escort, wether it be Cosworth or RST.

And to finish off I havent even watched the vid, I can imagine what it is like though.

not read all the replies but if its the video of the escort going part the evo at 160mph, if you watch the rest of the video the evo whoops the escort on the bends, and off the line! the only think the escort has over the evo is the fact it has a higher top speed

I agree with ..clawsk16v, yes the Evo is easily a better car all round and the escort will have problems cornering etc etc. BUT isn't that the same with high powered LET novas? They could beat evo's in a straight line.......

I'm impressed it was the still the original 1.6 CVH block, I was expecting some sort of transplant, maybe a cossie block.

gota say i wouldnt dare chose the escort, the evo is a beast nice an clean, unlike shitty old style cars poo interior, the evo torchered him to around 100 u got style comfort speed with the evo not jus quite a fast old car over 130, who cares about over 130 unless ur on a wish to lose ye liscence

on the later EVo's the only one restricted to a 'low' speed is the RS models, IIRC they will do 155mph, but it isnt a speed limiter it is the rev limiter at around 8k rpm, the RS's are much shorter geared than the GSR and FQ equivilants.
