Got the car runnin this morning , but it felt as though it was really strugglin , and stalled a couple of times as if it was flooding . My cousin ( mechanic ) sorted the problem by the carb fuel / air mixture adjustment screw...it seemed fine . The problem returned ( only slight this time ) and the car felt as if it was losing power - so I adjusted it myself.It seems fine . Now as a total ignorant person to engines , after I,d doctored it I glanced thru the Haynes manual...this is supposed to be a fairly difficult job - therefore have I done any damage - or simply being fussy as an old woman . ??

You need to get a exhaust gas analyser on it, to see what the mixture is like, and to get it set spot on. Take it to a garage to get it tuned correctly.

Had the mixture running way too high and rich....
after adjusting it - it runs like a good un...
