View Full Version : Subs in series
I've got a pair of 10W3v2-D2 JL subs to fit in my car, and just looking at how to wire them in. JL manual says that I can run 2 off one amp in series like this:

Soooo... according to that I can run two of them off the one channel on the amp I'm looking to buy (its a monoblock Alpine amp)? The amp puts out about 500WRMS at 2ohms - does this mean both subs, when wired in series as above, will get 500W or does the power half to 250W each?

because there in series they should get the same power.i should no i got a E in electronics in alevel lol
good idea that anyway. hope that helps
main thing is to watch the resistance of the cones in series the resistance adds together in parrellel it is a 1/ relationship.
if you don't get it within the tolerance of your amp then you'll burn out the power section of the amp.

Thats why I was considering putting them in series - according to the manual for the sub, on its own it will present a 4ohm load, but when two are wired in series it presents a 2ohm load to the amp.
The amp can handle both 2 and 4ohm loads, so its not too much of a concern, but the power is greater at 2ohm.
yep your power will be grater at 2ohm load.
as the amp is happy with this then go for it mate.
