Advise on starting nova SR

just bought a nova sr, its had a choke added to it, mite sound pure dumb but aint used to it so, when i was startn this morning i had the choke pulled out engine started then soon as i didnt rev it the car cut out, stalled about times, i had to go down the road revvin it an then holdin it above 1k as the revs jus flew down car vibrated till itd cut out, is this normal or wot ?

with mine i usually pull the choke out and when it starts to sound like its struggling push the choke back in and give it some revs. i sometimes have the same problem with having to hold the revs but as soon as i have a blast down the bypass its fine.do you have to drve up an incline coz this can cause he engine to cut out if its not yet warmed up.do you only have this problem on cold mornings?

yeh mate its a carb thats what to ecpect ...manual choke is an art form lol

dont pull it all the way out u only need about half

yea only jus got the car how exactly do u do it like. i jus tried at work. had it pulled out as much as it goes once it pops out in position, n i have to rev untill it stalls basically as soon as the revs fly down to under 500 it stalls until i hammer it a bit

Or maybe start it without choke or you will flood it, get the engine turned over first and use a bit of revs and THEN adjust the choke accordingly

on mine i just start it then pull the choke out a lil then put it in then keep reving it untill it idals ok..

i think i mite ov got it,, i think i been just holdin it out an floodn it so wen i stop it stalls, at work i jus revd to 1k for about 2 mins then pulled choke out fully for about 5 seconds slowly lettn it in to where it stops half way an then i was away seemed ok, cheers 4 the help, pics up soon

you got to remember theyre old cars they aint going to start and idle straight off, just be patient, kind and gentle and you'll be alright saying that if that fails get out and kick the bastard!! lol you'll get the hack of it
