X box software mod

does anyone know if you can get a mod for an xbox that allows you to play backup discs without the need for a mod chip, something like a boot loader mod or anything, i know you can get them for the ps2 but i just wondered if there was an xbox version.
any help would be appreciated.

There are softmods, but I have no idea about them as I've only ever used the chips.

I think they are something to do with booting into a certain game and using a modified savegame or something.
