Andy i still say keep this one off the road for a bit till you get a years cnb's etc, and road craft under your belt etc..you can do it up while its not on road, but main reason is most (ok not everyone) but alot of us have a crash or bumps in the first year of driving etc,and whats the point in crashing a car you spent so long building,i wrote my fist car off,all my owen fault i though i could drive(some will still say i carnt )but you learn and then you can take the risk of driving the more powerfull car and hope no one els hits you..

saxo vtrs are only group seven m8. a gsi is closer to a vts than vtr insurance groups wise.i tried gettin insured at 17 (passed my test) on a gsi and yeah you could get quotes online, best i got was 1800 but when you phoned them up they'd still say no way.
your all still missing out its a conversion too.
i'm glad i didn't get a gsi coz the amount of near missis i had in the 1.2 makes me think what would of happpened if i was going any faster.

as for the paint, i'd stay away from pearls etc coz if you have a tiny prang which statistically your likely to do, the bodyshop aint gonna love you when they've gotta try and match the paint.
i had blue pearl on my old nova but not alot pearl was mixed in coz it can turn the white milky.also its easier to match if you do prang sumut.

If you are planning to do this to your car:

cant wait to get my 1.6 and T40s under the bonnet

Then you need to save some money for the insurance, the increase in tax and the petrol that the car will use, not to mention upgraded brakes.

Saying all that though, you seem to have more money than sense so I shall say the same thing I say to everyone when they put up a "what shall I do" post: Do whatever you will be happy with, you're the one that has to look at the car day in and day out.
