1996 Opel Astra 160ie Saloon (Import) 1.6 8v MPI
no tax or mot, still on south africa plates.
The bit of paper i got to uk register it is a photocopy, i went down DVLA an they said i need to ring HM Customs and Excise to get the original then i can uk register it which costs ?38. so i spoke to HM Customs and Excise an he just said i got to pay import duties, but he didnt even check the car up on his computer to see if its been paid or not but i asked how much it would be anyway an he said if the cars worth a ?1000 then it works out to be about ?350-?400 import duties but he said they work it out to the uk model, which is only worth about ?600 probably so import duties will be hardly nothing. even so i still think its been paid, if ive already got the bit of paper to uk register it (but a photocopy) then its obviously been paid.
Hm customs and excise number is 08450109000, if you want to find out for yourself.
The car has 4 brand new uprated speakers, unsure on make, ill be leaving my kenwood mask cd player and amp leads, it also has a alarm, immob and remote locking (de-locked too)
Its lowered 40mm at the front an 60mm rear, has standard gsi shocks an disk brakes all round.
Aircon could do with re-gasing as its not as cold as it should be.
It also needs a front windowscreen, rear boot lid and rear fog lights wiring up for MOT.
Might need 2 front tyres eventually but they should go thru MOT, tracking also needs doing i just remembered, and the sump bolt needs a washer on it as its leaking slightly.
Ive had the cambelt done because the last one was starting to split.
Urm thats about it i think, if theres anything else you need to know, just ask.
Im looking for a ?1000, i know i could get alot more breaking it but its a nice car an isnt worth breaking, plus i havnt got the time or space.
