Yeh nice 1 Burgo. Any way i could make the 1.4 the same as a 1600 thn or is it gonna cost shed loads of money?? i dont wanna change the engine cos of insurance n stuff but if i wos goin 2 id much rather put a redtop in? or even a 2.0 8v, which 1s easiest and best 2 get loads of power out of? thanx

2L 8v is just as hard to fit as a XE, still need bay welding etc.

No way will a 1.4SPI engine ever be 100bhp tbh, even a well modded engine.
Unless you spent mega mega money.
I do know someone that got theirs to about 78bhp, but that was with a few expensive mods, BTB manifold, courtney high tourque cam etc.
Its not worth spending anything really on the engine. You could do a nova SR cam, de-cat and full exhaust and 4 branch manifold for reasonable money.

Just follow aragorn's guide for the 1.2i nova engine, same applies for your engine.

You could maybe change it to the 1.4 MPi from an SRi, and say nothing to insurance as it's still a 1.4?!!!

At least it's a far more tuneable engine if you ever do decide to get it going a bit quicker!!!
