Had to split the box on my daughters pug - diff was destroying itself.
What a pallaver compared to a Nova! For a start off the cluster and backing plate has to be removed as the CW and diff are under it and cant be removed independantly. And its not just a case of pulling the cluster out intact - it all has to be split apart! Right saga!

But a stroke a luck - just happened to have a Citroen 1.4i on the same plate parked up waiting to be scrapped. So we took both boxes and split them right apart and swapped the internals. Job done- XSI is now a motorway crusier rather than the nippy back lane revver it used to be! Well its only a girl driving it so who cares?

Main differences:
1. gear linkage into box - pug has a 2 lever arrangement - citroen just 1
2. ratios and FD - pug = CR with 3.74 FD very similar to the F10/13 W and F10/13 CR in the GTE's etc!

otherwise they are identical in bell housing detail etc

lol the joys of french cars :)

the gearlinkage arrangement is really weird tbh, but then again you havent got to fanny about aligning anything as it all clips into place.

lol, I have a 205 rallye sitting in one of my fields. My mates keep asking why I haven't sorted it yet (needs new sill+rear quarter due to smash, and some engine work).

Whenever i say 'because it's f-ing french' they just look confused lol

Ripped apart a Saxo the other day and to be honest was pleasently suprised how easy it came apart and how straight forward it all was. (not talking internals just engine out and interior body panels etc)

french stuff can be a hassle but the more modern ones are easier to work at (if not as good from car point of view).

106xsi isa very sorted car. i ran a 1400 one for 2 years in british rallycross championship for a customer and it takes some work to get gains from them as pug have them soo good from factory.

do lots of 205gtis now in the 1600 category

Mine was sound . Just had to do the clutch in it, and the biggest ball ache was lining the input shaft up. Otherwise it came apart and went back together without a hitch! NOt bad for a 150k mile car. Gearbox etc was mint - well happy :D
