Anyone know who will win?

Jim

Who will win what? 1/4mile, track day, looks? etc.

I'd say the 106 Gti will win everytime.

106GTi.

after driving my GSi even in semi tuned its no match for the GTi. mainly down to the extra 8v's it has.

I'd still say the 106, don't know though. Why do you ask?

i also own a 106 and i found it hard to shrug one off on the dual once i got to a ton and wasnt leaving it behind much, i slowed back down to 70 coz i dont like doing silly speeds anyway, it flew past and was a gsi, i guess it could of been tuned

Jim
18-10-05, 01:29 PM
Oh...

Yes it could have been tuned, he could have been in a lower gear than you, it could have been an XE...so many reasons why it went past you. I wouldn't worry about it.

you'll just have to make your pug faster then!

i know with mine the torque of the 8v gives it good power to about 80-90mph, witht he few mods i have done it still accelerates up to 110 fairly easy. now compairing my GSi with my G/f's GTi which i got to drive at the weekend i found it just keeps accelerating.

My mate had a 106Gti and ive got to say it would of absoloutly destroyed my Gsi.

Those things are pretty quick.

If it was an XE in the nova though, thats a different story

the 106 is a a quick little car and reacts well to simple mods such as exhaust and filter... easily get 140-150bhp from them which makes them a fair match for an xe corsa, not sure about an xe nova, add to the equation it weighs about the ame as an empty crisp packet standard and handles ever so well it will be more than a match for a nova gsi however you try and play it

(all IMO obviously)

106 every time....

if i were to start small cars again it would be with a 106 lol.

even the 1,1 106 zest thats used is shockingly fast for a 1.1 lol, i thought it was atleast the 1.4 when i first went in it.

pug did good (bar build quality) on that little fooker (and obv the 205)

doesnt the 106 come with like 30bhp more lol, a xe nova will hammer the shit out one but a standard GSi will get beaten by it. That doesnt stray away from the fact that all french cars are immensly gay

Stuart
18-10-05, 04:03 PM
even the 206 T16 ? lol

Philsutton
18-10-05, 04:08 PM
yes, they aint that quick either from past experience

the TD is fapping quick as well, my mate has one and it amazed me how nippy it was.

Makes a tractor sound like a V6 though

Undoubtedly, the emergence of Peugeot 205 T16 represented a new generation of Group B cars which could eat the old generation (headed by Audi Quattro Sport) for breakfast. While Quattro Sport was still front-engined, with a heavy monocoque chassis, Peugeot redefined the rules as mid-engined, space frame chassis and at least 100 lb lighter.
The 1.8-litre 16 valves turbocharged four generated up to 440 hp

Like french cars or not, you can't argue with what they achived with the T16!!

With regards to the topic, who cares if the 106 is quicker (should be with 16vs anyway), theres plenty of them about, but it isn't a Nova ......lol

Nick

well you say that - The T16 got absolutly wasted by the S4, and Was about to be wasted even more by the next generation of group S cars.

I bet a 106GTi would be a bit quicker than a nova GSi - obviously really !

I bet mine is quikcer by a fair amount, so i imagine a XE nova would be alot quicker. At the end of the day, who really cares about 60-100? you'd have to be a bit of an idiot going round "racing" people at those speeds

ah tetley finished his time in the slammer then...

106 i'd say for sure on just about everything.

Yes indeed, I've had my fair share of Knob heads trying it on when I go to work in my GSi. I cannot be asked to "race" some idiot in a saxo when he decides to velcro himself to my bumper, Wish they'd all pi$$ off. It's now prompted me to sell the car, as it's only a second car anyways...Here's to peace & quiet in my jeep.....lol

0-60 i really think my sisters 106 gti would beat a XE'd nova. Above that then the XE would start to pull but then when you get to a round about the 106's handling is fucking amazing. Makes your average xe'd nova on konis look very at sea.

il certainly agree with the handling, the best thing ive driven for handling, not sure on beating an XE'd nova 0-60.

The 0-60 on the 106 is 7.4 seconds, im sure an XE'd nova is quicker than that isnt it?

agreed. i ran a 5.89 at trax. and i wouldn't say i have that many mods that would lose me about 1.5 seconds.

also agree with stu on this too. if i was to build another small car, it'd be a 106 all day long. newer car and prob more around.
i went out in chris's mate's one (glen) and considering it was on std suspension bar springs, it handle fantastic. i was really impressed.

i am still considering going for a 106 now. but we know how these things are. never make your mind up lol

If I was to build another track car it would be a VTS, because they are cheaper than the 106 GTi's lol

yes but the VTS is common, the 106 is more rare and has a better image ie not a Chav one!

Stuart

but if your building a track/fast well handling car it dosent matter what image it has lol.

ive seen "new" 106 Gti sells for ?600 (bare) hmmmmmmmm lol.

good idea, light and quick as fook

Chris
19-10-05, 05:13 PM
but that would spoil a rallye then, a little bit like putting a LET or XE in a sport

Hmm, I wouldn't have gone that far - there's a load more rallyes about than there are sports?

my mate jo had a gti engined rallye...only prob with the 1.3's is they're tuned to about as much as they go from the factory...
