View Full Version : 1.4 sr no go
as ive mentioned before, got myself a mk2 1.4 sr project car, everything is almost complete, except the engine, left it till last, dont really know what to do with it, its running like a sack of spuds at the mo, only idols at 500 revs, then cuts out!
i want to keep it a 1.4 8v, but would like to get it to about 100 horses if poss!
what do you recomend?
cheerz!

Geting the engine looked at by a pro! and maybe fit t40s
Get a ported and polished SRi head on there, running twin 40s and a nice meaty cam, should see you just the other side of 100bhp 8)

check: the plug gaps, leads on correctly and the rite way round, no blockages in the air intake, is the carb set up properly? adjust the fuel/ air mixture skrew to rich, then adjust accordingly.
if none of the above get a mechanic to have a look.

hey mate i had 115bhp proven rolling roaded with my 1.4 8v sr i had k&n air filter weber 32/34 dtml twin choke carb courtneay hi lift cam magnecore 8.5mm silcone plug leads bill billdienstien big valved head fully ported polished bronze race guilds 4 branch manifold full exhaust system. then i got weber twin 40,s and matched inlet manifold which boasted me up 2. 137bhp but after some hard driving and no rev limiter i blew it up so if going down that road i advise strenthning the bottom end or else
