Ive not been on in a while, so thought i'd come and update you guys as to the progress with the Clio 16v..
First thing was to replace the knackered gearbox, so the engine had to come out for that job!! Also replaced a broken idle control valve, so it actually idles at 900rpm now not 1500 lol
Then some tidying under the engine bay, out with the giant airbox and on with a Pipercross induction kit, and i also sprayed the cam cover metallic blue -

Next up was new discs and pads all round, along with a general engine service. A new backbox (standard replacement) and a decat were also added.
And then today, these wheels arrived -

Its slowly getting near to being completely mint. Im currently saving for the Williams 2.0 16v engine, to replace the current 1.8 16v.
Comments/Opinions welcome guys :D

insurance is a killer mate - for me, 19, 1yr NCB, 0 points its ?1100 tpft!
As for the Clios themselves, you get what you pay for really, can pick them up for as little as ?600, but they would be rotten or high mileage knackered ones. They can also go for upto ?2000 for a mint one with no rust and lower mileage. I paid ?1100 for mine, no rust but high mileage.
Stop it Stop it Stop It!!!!
I lurrrvvvvreeeeee these things...
Looking very smart mate.
Wheels look top notch.

sorry but i hate these cars, 90% of the parts on them are made of chocolate and will break if you just look at it. Ive worked on a few and its like a complete retard designed it. Wait till you have to do the clutch oh yes have fun lol

cheers for the comments guys :D
lol yeh Phil, the clutches are an engine out jobbie to change arent they? They are very hard to work on, as for most jobs the engine has to come out lol

elephant.co.uk mate, would have been ?100 cheaper, but they added more because im paying monthly!
Flux wanted ?2k++
see, ive just finished paying ?2.5k on me nova at 19 with 2 claims! so ?1100 would be sweet!
and i quite like the nice wide arches on these clio's! hhhhm, got me thinking now?
just had a quick butcher on autotrader, but theres only one.

There are different styles of mk1 Clios mate..
Phase 1, Phase 2 and Phase 3. The only changes between them were the wheels, mirrors, grille, rear lights and side strips as far as i know.
The leather on mine was a factory option, and is pretty hard to find nowadays. Personally i reckon the phase 2 is best, which is 1994-1996 i think..
car looks immaculate dan, the wheels look spot on aswell
ive just brought a set of renault 19 leather's for ?50 for a clio

I almost threw in the towel with the Clio today - went for a drive to my local motorfactors, pulled out of a junction, and went to change up to third and suddenly there was a massive bang and a crunching sound and i had no drive at all!!!
Coasted to the side of the road and had a look around, couldnt see anything obviously wrong with it, got back in and went to put it in gear and there were no gears!!! In the neutral position it was in some gear, and back in fourth position was neutral!!
Ran home, got the trolley jack and spanner set, had a look underneath and the rear engine mount had sheared, causing the engine to shift position, and fucking up the gear linkage! was an easy fix in the end, but had me thinking id written the engine/gearbox off at one point - BLOODY FRENCH CARS
