Nowt wrong with V6 corsa's :!:

(well in a straight line anyhow)

i thought the v6's arnt that much heavier than c20xe's

Stuart
12-10-05, 09:52 PM
not massively heavier but they are a lut to package into a nova bay and offer bugger all performance gain over a 2.0 XE'd nova

Ben

They are more awkward to fit into Nova's due to the master cylinder, quite easy to tune the engines to a reliable 200BHP N/A for a damn site less than getting a XE to that power.

you not had any more luck doing yours then ben?

Ben

Yeah things are moving on quite well, Have got the front hubs machined down, the gearbox converted to 2wd, got a V6 rear beam and a spare corsa one to mod, got the full roll cage now removed from donor car, New flywheel ready to fit got to get my harness's of Will and then just need to sort out putting it all together, shouldnt be too long now.

Am glad i didnt rush it for september and decided to keep it off the road until everything was ready.

sounds good ben.

hope she sails well for you.

may i add, i'll still be going around the track faster then you in reverse lol

v6 in anything is cool but turboing it was pointless. would of been much better and got more power if he had supercharged it

Ive seen milkfloats quicker round a track than you.

I thought that corsa was just another crappy thrown together car, as soon as i read it had a V6 i instantly wanted to know what suspension set-up it was using only to find it was running standard dampers :o i bet that is scary around corners. And the turboing seemed pointles didnt seem to add much power at all for the money imo.

thats because you can only run about 5 psi of boost on them, anything higher you get terrible detonation probs cos of heat. which is why if you supercharge, less heat and so therefore higher boost and more power :)

and a cool charger whistle

The con rods are made of chocolate as well IIRC.

Stuart

thorught the rods were "ok2 but the pistons were weak.... or was that jsut the 3.0.

Hmm dunno! Was one of the 2. There was a big post on mig about one of them IIRC.

That Corsa in TV is awful!

Not only has it got standard suspension, it is running an F16 box!!!!

Hmmm, I wonder how long that will last!?

ANDYRACER

Didnt notice the F16 box, but noticed the suspension straight away, reminded me of that bloody red n white shitty nova again

2489cc C25XE, lightened balanced bottom end, lowered CR with 2 head gaskets, polished and ported heads, std cams, re-worked inlet, cav fuel rail, Noble eng map with Omex 700 management, M12 Injectors,T3 Hybrid turbo with T34 internals, blah blah blah.... 1.0l Corsa SXi rad... F16 Astravan Diesel box, AP racing clutch, std dampers with Eibach 40 mm lowered springs front and 60 at the back, Omega V6 front calipers, 285 discs and uprated pads, Astra GTE 16v rear disc conversion, Rial Daytona 7*17inch rims with Kumho 205/40*17 rubbers.

TBH i wouldn't call that thrown together anymore than most other Novas or Corsas TBH. At least he was prepared to go and spend ?3k at Noble to get it running right.

I personally think that turboing that engine in the manner he has done is a bit of a compromise that if he had sat and thought about at the beginning he might never have done. However 220hp at the wheels and nearly 300 ft/lbs torque aint bad and in a small car plenty enough

burgo
13-10-05, 06:54 PM
the torqur is very impressive to be fair

ANDYRACER
13-10-05, 08:29 PM
He bought the engine already turbo'd, so basically he just put some bigger brakes on n fitted some lowering springs and a crap gearbox. And 3k to get it running, that guys has more money than sense imo.

you get af fair whack of torque from the V6's.

Don't some do a 2.5/3.0 hybrid? 3 litre bottom with 2.5 head?

there was a hybrid one in TV a couple 18months ago.

burgo
14-10-05, 12:52 PM
yep 3l bottom end 2.5 heads with 3l cams

Mike

^^^bet that was a fair bit quick of themark the to say the least!

Ben

Its the 3.0l with weak rods, the 2.5's are much stronger bottom ends so god knows why build a hybrid with the 3.0l bottom end.

On a 2.5 With 3.0l cams and enlarged throttle body mild head work and a decent exhaust then you are looking at getting on for 200BHP N/A so 220 with a Turbo and a large bill isnt that great a result IMO.

And Sean i think it was me that took the photo's of Chris wiping the floor with you in his 1600 @ Trax

yep most of the gains on the v6 is through work on the inlet side, our kid took a knife to his airbox (three-pipe-mod) and has gained almost 8 brake just with that, which is something courtney dont do untill stage 3.

it is just a thrown together heap really,

a lad i know is running a N/A 2.5 V6 corsa, on coilovers at the front adjustable dmpers at the back, 4pots, rear disc conversion soon basically one thats been done properley and fuck me that car motors!!!

nice when there done properley deffo, that looked good IMO but the spec was a bit shite really considering
