few hundred for a second hand

lmao @ wanting a new one....... it would be cheaper to buy a 1.6 16V corsa, take the engine out. pay for the rest of the car to be disposed of and then fit your engine, than to go to vauxhall and buy a new engine...

id say yoru looking at the wrong side of ?1K for a new 1.6 16V... when a decent 2nd hand one will be a few hundred. But converting to carbs is a tad trickey for the small block 16v engine since you will need to control the ign somehow and the best option is mappable ign and thats atleast ?500 with loom etc

and how do i go about getin these bits the mapable ign and t40's?

erm for sale forums. ebay, migweb for sale forums. for ign try dta/mbe etc...

if your seroius about it just do a few googles to do some research etc

you should see a decent 140ish bhp from a mildly cammed carbed 1.6 16V engine. with a touch more work you can crack on well. and add lots of money say hello to 200bhp......

just make sure you have atleast the astra 16V 256mm brakes on the car before doing any of this!

working the 16V isnt cheap compared to the 8v, eg the 8v would cost approx ?100 (if your being ripped off) to buy, then another ?500ish tops for the carbs and dizzy setup... this should get you to about 110-120ish, then add a decent cam and head work your gonna see 130.

just read the guides etc at the top of the tech forum for a good insight into these things

lol your right got a sheet which gives you the prices for new engines but they are just blocks ect..
They are like this far past the wrong side of 1k--------------------------->

It would be cheaper to rebuild it from scratch using only the best an getting it past 200bhp lmao
