Recovering Front door cards?

I want to recover mine so that they are black, but I am unsure whether to take the whole material/vynal off and recover it with plain carpet or get some other stuff for it??

Any ideas??

Also I am thinking of putting some speakers in them, not too big. Am i ok just putting them into the door card with a bit of support round them or am I best building a pod? I have manual windows on a 1.2i Mk2

if you going to use accostic carpet, just peel the original stuff off, and use spray glue to attact it, not really that hard, or you could make to new one's out of would and trim them

for the door cards i took all the material off it and put some foam on, then covered in suede. just staple the material to the back. i personally hate acoustic carpet, you can build the best install, pods etc and it'll still look cack.
you don't need to build a pod if your having one speaker or a 13cm one which goes down in the corner but if you want more speaker or bigger ones then your gonna have to make a pod which makes the speakers stick out else they will hit the window mecahnism. you may still have to cut a bit of the
frame of the door coz this can cause interference in the sound if touching.

i just finished retriming me rear 1/4 cards with that acoustic. it worked out alright. im just a bout to do my front ones now. i was going to do mine in alcantera but couldnt find any :roll:

the glue i used was well strong. it was just some stuff i found in halfords.

What about the vinyl door handles inside. I want them resprayed a different colour (possibly blue) but what paint/dye is best?

i think you can actually buy special spray for interior. foliatec...... :? i think its called somthing like that any way.
