hardly likely to be a shagged cat.....

they stink until they warm up anyway.

wait until the daylight and then see what colour the smoke is etc...

does it smoke at idle?

does it smoke on overun (ie when you lift off)

does it smoke when you accelerate

does it smoke at "cruise" (constant speed)

Martin

only abit wen its ticking over,, but more when and accelerating....

piston rings are gone... or the bores are oval

either way its rebore + pistons time. OR get a 1.2 carb engine ;)

Martin

1.2carb engine it is then what other engine are they that wil fit straight in?? without any welding

Cheers

1.2
1.3
1.4
1.6

will all go in with out welding

Martin
11-10-05, 12:29 PM
ok,, might sound silly.. but which 1 put preduce more power?

Ste L
11-10-05, 12:32 PM
1.6, biggest engine isn't it

going to cost alot more to insure though

Jos

make sure you contact your insurers before you change the engine, even if you decide to stick with the 1.2, its still an engine conversion, and they should be informed (although they shouldn't increase your premium)

Martin

okay cheers m8 mite just put 1.2 carb engine into it,, can i get a 1.2 carb upto 100bhp??

Ste L
11-10-05, 12:51 PM
can't see you getting 100bhp from a 1.2

if you want 100 brake, wack a gte/gsi engine in, probably cost less to insure than a 1.2 tuned to that anyway, and would be more reliable

Martin
11-10-05, 12:59 PM
ok m8 cheers

to get a 1.2 to 100bhp youve gotta be comitted and understand that what your doing is futile but comdey.

ive build a 1.2 that i hope will make 100bhp (if it makes more ill be over the moon) but its cost lots of money and time. infact its probably cost the same ammount as building a decent spec 1.6 16V on TB's lol

look for an antibies of min in the 1.2 features section to see what ive done. its not been run yet but the simulations have been run and it should be promising lol

Ste L

sorry bit off topic, but how much you spent so far on the engine to get it to that stuart?

must be quiet a lot :o

Stuart
11-10-05, 01:17 PM
a lot ;)

infact a scary ammount for a 1.2, then again 90% of the parts are transferaqble to a 1.6 bottom end

Martin
11-10-05, 01:18 PM
thts impressive(spelling) m8 i bet it will go like f**k

Ste L
11-10-05, 01:19 PM
not so bad then if its transferable

Stuart
11-10-05, 01:39 PM
it will go like stink for a 1.2 but in reality it wont be "that" much faster than a gte/gsi in near full trim
