Well after being disappointed with the amount of track time i had at the ring ive decided to go to Donnington and do a track day tomorrow.
Ive still got to put the car back togeather in the morning before i go but all should be fine fingers crossed!
Beastie will be there in his 2l turbo upsetting pretty much everything on track at a guess lol. There are instructors available on the day free of charge, so this is my main reason for going. Ive done quite a few track days now but had no instruction so looking forward to seeing how i can progress with an instructor.
Come along if you fancy going out in our cars.

Hi all
Not long got back from Donnington and had a great day in the old girl, all be it losing some more oil lol but not as bad as the ring!
Sorry i didnt give you guys anymore notice, i only found out myself on friday and me and beastie only decided to go last night lol. Was up in the dark this morning putting the car back togeather, wasnt perfect but it did the job.
We turned up for the afternoon session, costing ?60. It was organised by Track Action and have to say it made a real difference going to an organised day. We had free instructors, camera and mount hire, free tea coffee and biscuits!! etc etc.
I went out 4 times in total (open pit lane!) doing approx 40 laps, first out with the instructor. He managed to show me a few new lines and by the end of the day i was taking cranor curves at just under 110 mph 8) Very happy to say the least, so it wasnt the car after all just my driving
Managed to overtake pretty much every car on track during my session's including an evo, RX7, porsche's and an m3 csl! (but he soon went back past me lol.
Beastie had a great time aswell, apart from having problems with the car being too loud! But when he had to drive slower i think he ended up enjoying it more, as he got to learn alot of the track.
Well thats it for this year for the nova, think i will be taking the engine out and giving it the once over before it moves to Germany. Speaking of the Ring, me Beastie and Andy are off out again in November! This time we are flying out and hiring BMW Z4's  should be fun.
Karl
excellent karl
sounds like you had a good day , anyone get any pics or vids

Thanks mate
Sorry we didnt get any pics or vids as it really a last minute thing. Made a nice change though to just drive and not worry about cameras etc.
Going to take a look on the website and see if there were any official photographers.
The Clio club were there aswell today, one ended up on its roof! and a pug 106 hit the wall sideways! Some very fast clio's there, one of them did the 1/4 in 12.4 :o Dont have a bad word to say about them all other than a few of their lines were a little dangerous at times.
Karl
crap. i'd of poped in if i'd know.
karl you have pm.

I mint day. I got black flagged twice  As usual!!!!! "Ha mate ya cars tooo loud" Yep I know I repied! 101.5 db. Had to be below 98 db! Every 3 db if you didnt know is 2 times as loud.
Did 3 sessions 1st slow/medium- black flagged to loud.
2nd took out my brother racing a westfield xtr 4 on full slicks. Kept up no probs could have gone past if I was aloud to use the fill extent of the load pedal  . Had to run it on low boost to keep it quieter.
3rd run took a mate out. did around 10 laps then realised that this would be the last session. So me being me flicked to high boost. Went straight inbetween 2 porsche's down the straight 1 was a RS.Did a pretty quick lap then black flagged!!!!!
Fantastic day. A full day would have been to much.
180 miles all day there race and back ?45 petrol 18 mpg

Sounds like an awsome day had by all.
Wish mine was still on the road now!
Not bad price to.
You doing any more this year or is that it?
Whot boost were you running at Trax then Mark? Please tell me low boost!!
Thought i kept up not to bad but if you were only on low boost i'am gonna be gutted!
Cheers

Well the answers yes and no. I only flicked it on to high boost for the hangar and main straight. I get alot better drive out of corners on low boost. Thing was as usual I had fuel surge problems at trax and Donnington. Hopefully im going to be installing a swirl pot over the winter. along with many other things. Car should be quite different after the winter  But as usual it all depends on the money .
lol nutter!
what other plans are there for the nova Mark? fooking mint as it is! :D one of my favourite novas! and how the hell does it always seem to be on the road for all the the shows and track days etc and not tucked up in a garage broken?

'Nutter' cheers for the compliment  Plans well ive pondered many but I think it might me back to basics. Bread and butter stuff. I still enjoy the shows but not as fussed about cleaning and polishing the car. The rear seats hardly ever get used
Dont forget ive owned the car for 7 1/2 years so it has been of the road many times and on the back of low loaders! 3 engines 3 gearboxs 6 driveshafts a snapped rear bearing carrier, Snapped front hub @ 80 mph on Trax. To name a few. Shes been around abit.
My mates take the pis about how un reliable it is. It hasnt broken for 2 years! Will now I bet!

Hi mark,
Quite pleased now, if you were flicking to high boost and 280bhp i sort of managed to keep with you for a bit!!!
Think you should strip the interiour and go light weight over the winter.
Cheers mate
See you next year!!

Sorry to disapiont you but I was waiting you you and Karl see it would be more fun! You may not have the speed but thru the corners you should be carrying alot more
sounds like you had a good day.
I'm thinking of going there on the 28th of this month for a bit of a final run out for the car.
110 through craner curves is good enough going, you can really hold some serious speed through there with a lsd but end up being a little out of line for the next right hander (whatever its called)
track tuition certainly helps as proved by Herbert helping me out round the ring.
glad your car is still going alright Karl
Come along if you fancy going out in our cars.
No chance of that unless i bring a seat lol, Sounds like you had a good day, cant wait until next season.

Jonlem its called the old hair pin. I recon displayed I was doing 100. Your right though to much speed and it makes the braking for the old hair pin very tricky/sc  ary!

especially after a few hot laps
I'll remember that thanks Mark ! still trying to get my head round all the corners from the ring ! all I remember is which way they go, not what there called lol,
Coming into the old hairpin is great fun, getting the balance just right out of craner curves into it is difficult as you can carry far too much speed through! and thats in mine, god knows what yours is like!
The track day I was going to book onto is on the 23rd of October, A few people have mentioned it on Passion ford.
Whats Chris got in mind then Benji ?
