The 205 are spot on mate i used to have a 205 1.8 d van till some ball face wrote it off a few weeks back,i now just bought a renualt 19 19TD and that thing is mint and ace in my opinion anyway, just depends what makes you wish to go for,in that money range there is loads of nice cars to be found, the citroen xantias are well cheep now,i just missed a 1.9 td for ?300 the other week and then got my ren19 for?450

here the post with it in.

Yeah, cheers mate that did help.

I was gonna look at a k reg 19 td for 350 but thought it was too cheap for the car so there be lots wrong with it. but after seeing the one you got il prob go and have a look.

What sort of nova would they compare to performance wise?

when i had a 1.9td ren 19 6 years ago it wasted my mates 1.6 mk2 golf on a regular basis..... but be wary of lift off oversteer ;) lol

Hard to compare to a nova, though if i had to i would say a very poor gsi etc,or a very good sr/sri.

Is there anything that i should look out for on them?

smoke.
if its been stood for a while it will smoke anyway, but it should clear after about 10 mins, if the smoke is white, then mr turbo is fooked
if the smoke is black then its just overfuelling and being naff
"dirty" smoke is from it being stood still for ages.

mine smoked like a refinary for 10-15 mins under decent load after collecting it. but now its fine.

Well rusty holes to strat with, lol.

I guess any oil leaks etc and nasty black smoke on start up etc, just your basic cheacks i did,if the car seams straight and theres history like i got with mine then its all good realy, just dont buy the first one you see,oh and dont be tempted to buy from a dealer in the to-clears section buy private always a better deal i find.

?500??

Get an Omega TD, about 150hp IIRC and enough torque to launch sideways in the dry rofl

Mine returns about 35mpg and will sit all day long at 100mph (on my private road of course) and it is also great fun for doing a spot of drifting.

LOL, would love to but as im only 18 i would imagine insurance would be a bit steep.

Mmm, the Omegas seem to be around insurance group 13. How about a TD chavalier? They're mostly only insurance group 8 and you can pick cavs up for peanuts...

I think insurance group 13 is a bit out of my reach considering i want it as a cheap runaround.

Cav could be an option, do u know what the performance is like?

the little 106 1500 d Provides dependable and cheap transport. They are in the low tax bracket, cheap as fuck to insure and will run forever on a gallon (MInes hit upto 69MPG!!)

Same motor found in the Saxo and Rover Metro 115D
