Hello

I am thinking of buying a decent stereo for my house but i want to run and amp and a sub from it. I know i can buy seperates and get and amp and then a subwoofer but i am sure it wont sound the same (Or will it???).

Please advise if it is possible to run a car amp in the house, the stero i am getting will have pre-outs which i need but i am not sure how i will wire it into house mains ect.

Also can i get a stereo amp as like a seperate that is designed for home and run the sub or will that sound c**p.

Plz Help

right then you have a few options,

the best method in my opinion is to get seperate and have two amps set up one as you would normally with all your sources running into it with your fll range speakers powered from it. then run an rca cable from the tape recording out into your second amp that runs your subs. then you can eq till your hearts content

the other option is to use the tape recording out to feed a car amp. this does work providing that you have a powerful transformer in the system. but is not really very controlable. the best bet is the first setup. i've personally used it for years.

if it's deep bass your after look at a good pair of floorstanders.
the Eltax concept 200 are not bad at all for a budget buy.
if your serious though go for the kef cresta 30's as you can run seperate bass and full range amps into these.

bear in mind that the wattages look low but these are RMS figures not any of the PMPO that you find on car gear. much more representative of the actual driving force of the cones

ther really good on price and have an excellent range.
