Got it back today, just driven it home (that's all it's gettin)

Well, it's rather quick - sounds amazing too....

It's raining heavily so it just wheelspins 1st,2nd and then into 3rd so i hav't had a chance to feel how quick it goes 0-60..

apart from that, stuck to all speedlimits e.t.c and it's a really nice driveable engine - powerband is 2k-6k but cruises along very nicely ; yet it's constantly on power ! suprised a Golf V6 4motion going from a 30-60 zone - i don't think he was too impressed really

here are some really really bad pictures, just taken outside now ! nice looking 1.2 !

Carbs are jetted up for a 1.3SR (skoobs old engine) so it's running way way rich, (i think he's compensated for the smaller jets by runing a richer mixture) and bogs down alot - so hopefully there could be another 10bhp + there to be unleashed on the RR. idles well, but a bit lumpy - but as said the RRshould sort this out !

apart from that, it's spot on smiles per miles

it'll be the fastest brown thing I've seen since the aftermath of a triple vindaloo and 12 pints I had a few weeks back

yer it's allright, scabby battery tray but that's being done properly (dash removed job i think) just needs tidying up and maybe a couple of nice extras like a Alloy catch tank and header tank !

It's nothing compared to how Jim's or keiths looks but it's a very solid little car and eventually i'l find the time to strip it to a bare shell and spray it (the same colour - or maybe burgo turd brown) like it deserves !

Looking good Nick.
When's it going on the Rolling Road?

Nick

Probably wont get on an RR till christmas (i'm going to uni tommorow which is about 350 miles away)

Yep adam, it's a standard nova system on at the moment, with the 4-2-1 gsi pig iron manifold !

I plan on getting probably a Ashley 4 branch and system , maybe needs a fuel Pressure regulator (but the carbs seem to be pretty self regulatory) and that's really about it

oooh plus some Air filters, there was a bit of water going in the carbs on the way home (yes they have got trumpets, just really really short ones)

He has used a 1.2carb cam carrier and rocker cover, as it has the cutout for the mechanical fuel pump

done it the same way as me, the best way imo.
Nice.

before you get it r/r get a fpr on there, its a complete waste of a r/r if you havn't got one on as it'll overfuel like hell!

http://www.novaload.net/images/car_images/2696big3.jpg

Did you have to mess around with the egr hole in exhaust port 2 in the head?

Sorry, just got the free ethernet at uni..

Yes, as i said it's not a 1.2 ...

I used the 1.2 cam housing to enable me to run the original ignition e.t.c and use a mech fuel pump !

snowface, it goes bloody well as it is, but yes i'l probably get a FPR !

If you look i havn't even got any filters on it - just did it for as cheap as i could afford and to get it finished

oh and for the EGR valve problem...

I completly forgot and put the carbs on, set them up and fired it up

Then it sounded like a bag of nails and i realised we'd forgotten to sort the EGR valve hole out - Was firing flames out when you gave it a bit of throttle

I then left, and i think dave tapped a bolt into it - it's all airtight e.t.c but i'm not 100% sure that it's solveable sooo easily ?
