View Full Version : V6 brakes

I'm thinking of getting a brake upgrade on my nova, I already have 2litre discs and calipers, but the discs will need changing sometime soon and I may go for an upgrade.

I assume 15" alloys will be big enough for V6 brakes?
Just how big are the discs?
What car would the 4pot V6 disc come from?
Any suggestions on where to buy the discs and calipers?
Any other details and problems I may encounter with this modification?

Cheers all
Jos

IIRC if you have wide 15s, v6 calipers are fine.
But i think they may catch on some 15s depeding upon the width of the wheel.

You can get them off a v6 vectra etc, if they are 5stud you will need to get the discs redrilled to 4 stud, any engineering shop will do this for you.

The discs are 288mm IIRC, or there are some 284mm ones.
Go for the 288, as the calipers are better and have bigger pistons etc.

Everything else is just the same as 2L 16v upgrade, fitment etc.
But you will need a spigot ring IIRC to fit to your nova hub, as the v6 hub is bigger than a nova. The spigot ring centres the disc on the nova hub correctly.
IIRC they are about ?10 for a pair of them.

so if i was to take the whole hub assy off my mates written off Corsa 1600 sport and bolt that on to my nova that would be fine. i'm hoping my wheels will be ok and i dont end up having the same prob as in my other post with the 14"s!

What for?

I think nova/corsa/astra all need the spigot ring for the disc to fit the hub.

Thank you very much Long Live, any idea where I can get two spigot rings?
