Diablo as in gullwing or lambo doors? Hmm, I think I remember hearing someone using transit van rear door hinges for this before... needs a LOT of strengthening though on the roof and A-pillar, doors aren't exactly light things...
it was just an idea.. im trying to create a show car... im planning on a 2.0ltr Calibra Engine Conversion in about a years time, as ive heard that nova's fly when thats been done.
but i just want to work on the body at the moment. the car has minimal rust for a J reg and any rust that is there is just surface rust not structural.
i know i could get it done for ?699 at a specialist shop. but i was wondering if i could do it cheaper myself.
If that's ?699 all in I'd be tempted to leave it to the pros, then if anything goes wrong you've hopefully got some kinda comeback on them. Also I'm assuming they would have experience so should make a decent job of it.
don't do it your self, you don't want a door falling off and decapitating you
ok thanks guys.. its not going to be done for a while, ive just paid out 699 for my body kit. and a further 250 on seats. so im pretty skint right now.
see pimp my ride - they fitted diabalo doors (lambo doors) to a honda civic. They replace the existing hinges (down the side) and a hydraulic piston pops the door out and up.
Theyre over 900 for the hinges alone (not sure if this is dollars or UK) but according to the program they just "bolt on". Doubt its that easy (you'll need to remove the old hinges) but from the image it looked pretty simple...

this is on my shopping list for the honda...
.....oh yeah....
I want lambo doors on my spider 8)
you can get direct bolt on ones for some cars, mostly jap. but you'll have to get universal ones for your nova and make them fit

I've heard that universal lambo door kits are extremely difficult to fit.... like most "universal" things then I guess
