i've been hammering my itunes recently, uploading all my cds to the pc basicaly just to save space. it's amazing hom much you can store on a 40gig iPod. so far i have 2108 songs, they will play for 5.3 days and it's only 6.99GB. that 156 albums. probably got the same again to go. so when my whole cd collection is on my pc it still won't fill half of the ipod. thats mental.

my cd collection is by no means the biggest but i would say it's pretty good.

it all depends on what quality you encode them on...

2000 songs on mine will take up about 11gb on my Ipod, but i have "musical ears" apparently, and can really tell the difference between 128kbps,and 192kbps, i guess some people probably can't !

if you need any help converting protected Windows Media player files into i-tune compatible format PM me and i'l sort it out for you

Wicked isn't it
I've been trying to fill up 80gb for ages now. I've only got 19.11gb gone.
I've been toying with the idea of getting a Nano. But I still love my shuffle. I hardly ever listen to albums now I just leave iTunes on Shuffle mode all day. What I like is when a song comes on and you think I never knew I had that one. Or whats that? That sounds good.

I still wish they did CD text for the CD complations though.

iTunes queries an online database and fills all the names in for you when you put a CD in :D

which is good, but if you have a rap album usually every song has a different artist featured on it and is listed in itunes as a seperate entry

nick, i don't know what you mean mate, i've not had a problem with anything encoded

I've got about 2000 tracks at 10Gb at the mo, still gotta record a whole shedload of cds though when I can be bothered. Don't usually play cds any more, just run mp3s off my pc thru my stereo and if I want any in my car then just burn them to cdrw

ok no worries...

It's just alot of people have encoded cd's into MP3's before (using WMP) and then when it comes to try and put them onto I-Tunes it doesnt let you because as a defualt Windows media player "copyright protects" encoded MP3's unless you turn it off !!

So i had tons of albums, that i'd encoded , but they wouldn't go onto i-tunes.. However i found a way around it !

but it sounds like you've not encoutered this !

I know :)
I was helping my Uncle put CD's on his ipod.
He bought a 20gb one aswell.

He has put all his CD's on there and only taken up a few gb's!
Sometimes its a waste of money getting all that extra space.
