H-reg 1.4 sr Engine into a 1.2 spi j-rej nova...

Hey i need some help on this. I ve never changed an engine bfore! Ive talked to a few mechanics about this and they say that all i need to do is rip out my ecu and wiring/injection wiring and stick the carb engine in and use the coil off the sr... i need to know how t do this step by step!! many thanks Innes

You will need to sort fuel out.
If you rip out the ecu and loom then you cant use the electronic fuel pump.
You could use the 1400sr mechanical pump.

And your 1.2SPI will have a cat in the exhaust system.
So fit a full SR manifold/downpipe and system.

i have just put a 1.4 into a 1.2 carb and all i had to do is put my 1.2 carb and inlet onto the 1.4 ..with the wiring in ur case u just have to wire up just the alt starter and you may have to change the plug 4 the dizzy. and the oil preassure sensor, and the rest that isnt used just remove withe ecu and its wires ..pretty easy really

The 1.2carb inlet doesn't match the 1400. Port shapes are different.

Have you fitted the 1400 engine then just put the 1.2 inlet and carb onto that?

well i have fitted the 1.2 carb and inlet onto my 1.4 engine and it works perfectly ok

Why not just fit the 1400 carb, the 1200 carb inlet wont match the 1400 carb head and obstruct fuel/air flow into the cylinders.
