I took the bold decision today to throw in the towel and after ?6,800 sell me nova after its MOT and get a nice new Corsa GSi 16v instead.

I've spotted a mint condition glacier white GSi with 87k on the clock, boggo standard and the insurance will let me have it ?1,118.57 of my hard earned GBP TPFT with ?100.00 excess! Bargain for me compared to ?2,500 odd on me nova!

So, as of October the 19th, all my parts, like me T40's a gas flowed B+ head, roll cage and my entire car will go. Complete with buckets, carbon bits etc etc etc.

She's been ever so faithfull, ever so exspensive and bloody fast! But the Corsa would be alot better for daily driving with a decent turn of speed, well, me nova's got that but the corsa will better!

So, its good bye old faithfull, and hello new skool. I'm very sad now

I dont want to sell it, but i can't keep it for ever. So watch this space!

Have you driven the corsa yet? If not, i can imagine you'll be quite disapointed if you're expecting it to be good.

I found my corsa shite to drive compared to my nova...

I have a Corsa GSI as one of my cars and after saying we'd never buy another we did and regret it, pain in the arse to work on and performance is pretty crap really. Wouldn't buy another and wouldn't recommend one, personnaly i'd go for the 1.4 (8 valve) SRI, imo almost as quick if not quicker in some cases, cheaper tax and insurance and a lot cheaper and easier to work on.

car will be old as a complete nova, with buckets, carbon bits, chrome bits a spare set of doors and rear lights etc!

had thousands of ???'s of new parts!

my insurance i more than a mug off! its beyond a rip off! but that is with 3 points and 3 claims tho?

im having a GSi as the white one's are mega rare and look mint! and for around ?800.00 itll be a bargain. me mates got one, and it runs 186bhp! its a little bit quick! but he has spend 10k on it?

if he's spent 10k to make it 186bhp he's been mugged off too :-D

i've seen quite a few white ones around here tho

dont stick it on ebay!

Makes me laugh the amount of novas on there where the owners say "Thousands spent" but they start the bidding at like ?100 and it sells for no more than ?500!

Part x it for summut - not a corsa though - maybe astra gsi or summut...

Surely your having a laugh, how is a 1400 with 85bhp gonna be nearly or quicker than a 1600 16v with 109bhp??

Must be like them 13sr Nova's that are quicker than GTE's

After having 5 nova's including an absalute minter of a GTE, the corsa is a better all round.

Nova sport's were quicker than the GTE, bear in mind top speed on the gte is higher but thats not what its all about. Oh and that was a 1300

Fair enough but thats a different kettle of fish as they say lol

a 1400sri corsa isnt exactly a specialised model is it

If you get sensor trouble with the Corsa GSI, which you usually do then an SRI will be almost as quick, anyway not all Corsa GSI's had 109BHP that engine was only fitted to the early C16XE engined models the later ones had the X16XE which is 106BHP IIRC. Personnally I think they are a pain in the arse to work on if you work on your own cars, i've got the head off my girlfriends at the moment and I would say it's easier to work on my LET engined Nova than the Corsa GSI.

I've probably owned 15 Nova's 3 Corsa's a Calibra Turbo, Cavalier's Astra's e.t.c and would have to say that a decent Nova would be my choice.
