right, i need bigger brakes, but i want to keep my sr alloys for the sleeper look, will 2ltr 16v brakes fit behind 14inch wheels?? im sure ive read somewhere they just fit, but i normally see "must have at least 15inch rims" ????

right they will go on but i think someone said that they need to be part worn though as the new ones wont quite fit under. Ive seen plenty under those wheels though

u wont get them behind sr/gte alloys, ive tried this and it simply wasnt happening

they apparently fit under sri steelies and they will obviously fit under astra gte alloys and cav 14" steels as thats what was fitted to the astras and cavs with those brakes

You need 5.5J 14s.
Most if not all 14" nova wheels are 5J.

burgo's has calibra 2.0 brakes on hes pick up....he had to grind some of the caliper away as it was catching slightly

fit under sri steels as long as the pads are a bit worn

well buy some, see if they fit. If they don't then buy some slightly larger wheels (you said you probably would anyway). If they do, then there is no problem :D

Not sure about grinding brakes.... brakes are a bit too important to set to work on with a grinder IMO.

Gring the caliper away LOL, isnt that where all the strength comes from in braking so you really dont wanna be grinding the cast away

My thoughts exactly!!!

ive had no probs as you only have to grind a tiny bit off and use 5mm spacers

the whole caliper as a whole yes but you dont need to grind much away....and it wont affect the cast....

Still seems extremely dodgy! :o

if your not running much more than standard nova gsi power put the brakes of one on to your sr as gsi ones are vented and the same style as 2 ltr but will fit behind the standard wheels

Adam

You could do as above, but gsi/gte etc vented discs are the same size as all nova discs, just vented.

exactly there still w4nk. if your gonna up grade there is no point doing anything less than 2l 16v ones

it was just away to keep the gte wheels they work better than standerd sr ones or go for 15s like i have with calibra turbo brakes just get them re drilled to 4 stud

as for the power issue, im gonna be running a 1.6 16v and my missus has got a 1.3 sr, i agrre that theres no point in upgrading unless its 2ltr, think ill try it on the gfs car first, wudnt wnat mine to lose all braking and run into something now would i..................
