I'm going to be using my 1.2 dizzy and coil on my 1.6T40 by running the 1.2 cam housing.

What effect, if any, will this have on performance ?

someone commented about the 1.6 stuff producing a more powerful spark but is this really going to make a difference ?

What cam are you using?
It depends what drive the cam is as to whether the 1200 dizzy will physically fit.

Dont know how well it will work tho, i think most people use 1400 dizzy/coil.

its been rumoured that the 1.2 delco setup is "better" than the 1.4 bosch stuff but its only better in race applications allegedly.

so you can use it.

It's a kent MVOH or something like that.....

It has all the drive types machined into the end and a fuel lobe so it'l go in the 1.2 cam housing and drive the 1.2 dalco remy dizzy, mech fuel pump just fine.

Was more wondering if the dizzy and ign is simply better on a 1600 or 1400 than my 1.2 stuff.

Chris, my car is currently a carb so it's easier just to keep it as it is really..

i'm using bosch (black cap) the delco is better (smaller orange cap). Wether its noticable in general day to day use i dont know.

Easy enough to swap though.

Hows the build going anyway Nick?

Mine is running a black cap 1.2 ign, but i'm sure this is dalco remy ?

It's going well thanks.

Stuck with the 1.6 T40 idea like yours, jims, dans e.t.c

I decided to go down a different route to start off with, hopefully i'm going to be achieving a pretty reasonable BHP (something similar to yours) from not spending very much money. i'l be pleased if it all works out, because it'l proove that you don't need to do spend lots of cash to acheive a nice road engine. I'l reveale how much it's cost me and what it's running after i get a RR print - but it's been thought through alot and hopefully it'l be producing some nice curves

Engine is getting rebuilt now and set-up (not by me) and i should have the car back in about 1 1/2 weeks.

black one = delco
red cap = bosch
and 1.6 is not a dizzy.....

hi i went down the same track as you i used a 1.4 sr dizzy ect then put a facet fuel pump on but this was because the cam didnt have the lobe to run a manuel fuel pump and then stuck on a rev limiter i was told to fit the gsi ignition system would be a full loom job

hope this helps :D

yeah dizzy's my bad.
My engine would of cost more if i didn't do 90% of the work myself. So may work out around the same.

Be interesting to se what it would be like driving a 1.2 now cause i've gradually worked up from a 1.2/1.3 etc over 3 years with about 3 or 4 different power variants between 1.2 and 1.3.

Prolly a big difference.

to be honest, i don't mind the 1.2, it does the job perfectly well...

it's just that i'd like a bit more power really, makes overtaking alot safer e.t.c
And i'l beable to take it to 1/4 mile/tracks as i wont really be home much to drive it !
