I hope someone can help! I have been given the opportunity to buy a novavan for ?95, bargain really! However it will fail the MOT due to rust. The body work looks ok, bit of rust under the passenger front wheel arch and will probs need new doors on both sides. The trouble is the lady who is selling the car told me the mechanic she spoke to said that rust on the chassis will cost about ?200 to fix. Now this isnt a problem as my dad has al the equipment to sort it out, but will it really be worth doing? I heard that once the chassis starts going I will have to spend out every year getting it fixed in order for it to go through the MOT. I'm planning on doing it up and keeping it for a while so obviously this isnt a good thing. The engine and gearbox are sound and the mileage is pretty low as well. Any advice would be truely welcomed!

if you can fix it for free (your dad) then go for it, providing that it only needs the welding for the mot then you have to start somewhere so you may as well. if the chassis does start rusting, it doesnt mean that it will need work every year. strip all the underseal off rub down and treat all the rust, waxoyl all box sections and re seal the underside and it should last a bit longer.
