Hi,

been offered one from a mate - are they useful or just a gimick?

Its a E16SE engine - kent cam, 4 branch, K&N, magnex system and vernier pulley.

Do they help if setup correctly, or just push too much fuel through?

cheers,

The amount of fuel required is related to the amount of air going into the engine.

Why would you need more fuel if more air isn't going into the engine ?

They're gimmicks !

As far as im aware they are just an uprated fuel pressure regulator. In other words they put the fuel pressure up. Your supposed to get get better engine response and I thknk the fuel air mixture will richen up a bit due to the higher pressure. I have not had any direct experiance of the power boost valves. But I do have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and its amasing how different the engine will run when you adjust the fuel pressure.
