Yup, was a great day 8)
Nice to meet you Bottlethroddy - You where flying!
It was really good to see some more Novas at Combe. There was a black one that lost it going in to the esses right in front of me.

Just as I was getting in the car to do my last run of the day the heavens opened and so I had an exptreamly wet session. Was still giving loads but lost it on the straight after a puddle unsettled the car. I did a carbon copy of Phill Suttons slide last year. I just ended up going sideways for a long time and then rejoind the track and off I went on my merry wey ;) I will get a clip of it hosted later on so you can all see just how wet it was!!

Top stuff

Yup - We have loads of footage. I have my three runs. We also had three people videoing around the track. We also had another car running with a camera on one of my runs.

So loads of footage to sort through. I will try and get a few clips hosted on monday

My car after its slide  Notice the grass sprouting from the wheels :P

lol - just that one
When you see the clip you will see just how damn wet it was. The funny thing was that I did it directly in front of my wife who is pregnant and due in about 4 weeks. I got a 'What are you trying to do make me have this baby now' comment
Had one other almost moment when I overestimated the speed some traffic was going through the esses - I could have run through them faster! So I had to slow down a bit sharpish but no real drama

I was wondering when someone would ask that. I kept spilling fuel down the car and it was killing the paint work. So I put that there just to protect what was left. Looks crap dosen't it.

Also I wasn't on any other tyres (I will be getting them for next year) I was on my uniroyal rainsports. They were gripping ok for the conditions. A 4WD car spun it in exactly the same spot as me about a minute later it was that bad

Im a bit gutted that I didn't have time to go around and take photos. They had some lovely cars there.

dar, i like your car alot. was having a nose round it earlier in the day. i wish id stayed to watch the 'wet' track action. thrills and spills was it??!!

there was a black nova and a purple nova the lee started to close in on at the end of one of his runs. anyone off here? the black one spun off i belive. the purple one was lighting his inside tyre up a treat coming out of quarry!

a good day out. cant wait for next year so i can cane mine around the track!

Yup :P - I will have the clip hosted later on today with any luck. Not as fast as your slide because it was alot wetter.

Pete_58 - Im not a fan of the wet but its was good fun :P I also went out behind a black Nova (Matt black) he spun directly infront of me on the esses. I will get that clip hosted as well

My little bro in his Mk1 Escort also spun in front of me (will be hosted). It was his first outing in the car, and the first time the car had been driven in years! But once he got used to it he way also flying.

Im watching the in car footage now. It really is amasing how much you can learn about your driving and how the car was handling once you watch it. I setup my tyre pressures differently so that the backend was more stable, on the day I thought that it was understeering a bit too much. But watching the videos my work rate behind the wheel is about 1/2 of what it was and im lapping in about the same time (maybe a tad slower). so that maybe a good setup for tracks I don't know as well ;)

Dar,

I know it's local mate, and it happens to be a real good one, but there are other track's in the UK besides Castle Combe!!!!!!! :o

lol - I know Russ - Im planning on going to Donnington now I have made the car quiter.

I was banned from all the airfield trackdays because of the driveby noise as well  So I will hopefully be doing Keevil, Colern & Halavington soon.

Im getting borde of Castle Combe now, but its been a good testing ground

Keevil and colerne are not like circuits mind, you'll prob need to soften your suspension a bit for them tbh. I have done rallies at both, they are recommended though

I thought Castle Combe were one of the tightest on noise mind, I was neally banned after My first session in April!!!!

The track they layout at the airfields is different than what you run on the rallies. They just use the in-field. Your ok on the rallies noise wise but if you do the events put on by Motorsport events then Ed and his crew are mega tight on noise(either that or they didn't like a Nova passing everything ;)). To be honest they run a really fecking tight ship which is ok but if you spin or have an off they bring you in, three times and thats your day over which is crap IMO. Very anal but rules are rules I suppose.
