XE

i hope not,

despite what many will say and the people who own them will debate this,
IT WILL NEVER HANDLE WELL.

when you have been in a FWD car with a light engine (like a 205) you will see what i mean

Susprised you say that Matt :?

We've all seen how well Darrens car goes round the track

and if your talking about on the road.. then thats not really the point cause you cant/shouldnt drive it that hard on the road

no i mean competatively. i see far more powerful novas on sprints etc with xes in them get killed by standard mi16 205s with just a set of carbs on,

you know bean with the green 205 that RKG built, that thing with just basic suspension set up and no diff goes round corners better than a nova xe with works billsteins and a plate diff,

ive owned a well set up xe nova and its a awful. the 205 can do a tight corner at almost double the speed.

i have said that i will own another nova again but it will not have anthing bigger than a 1.4 16v in it.

Looks spot on Benji, im liking the rear strut brace idea was it Rick Draper who originally came up with that idea? And XE maybe a cheap way to power but abit boring now always nice to see a tuned 1.4/6 16v or a 1.6 8v on carbs imo.

looks good benji.

glad to see you have got rid of all speaker wire too lmao

as for the xe descussion, yes benji is doing the xe.
but if you look at peoples driving abilities you see a huge difference.

chris has a bigger understanding of how his car drives then me. he has coilovers.
benji drives his car really well and will be very competitive once the xe is in.

and now i shall point towards dar, look at his videos and his kill list around tracks.
who says xe nova's dont handle, especially when you can do scoobies and ferrai's around a race course. and his secret and he'll agree to this.
he gets better speed and handling throught the corners.

why all of a sudden is a nova xe a bad idea?

i know its common, but for a reason, its cheap and on standard power will beat any tuned nova engine within reason! without spending muchos out on a. mods, b. petrol on carbs etc lol

looks ben, interior is muchos sweet!

to be perfectly honest it dosent matter.....

and your "kill list" dosent matter esp if you stay in a group that has massive newbie traffic....

you build a car to enjoy it, if you dont enjoy driving it round corners but can beat everything up the strip then to be fair youve built the car for the wrong reason. i could say t goes the other way too but i know my 1.2 wont be fast up the 1/4 but it should be a total laugh to drive round a track/lanes etc.

If you cant enjoy what you drive (for fun that is) then you need to build something else instead. Some people like the 20 XE route, others like to remain small block oriented. Its just a matter of personal opinion etc.

Its only a spot of fun afterall

the 2.0l 16v was a option i considered, and was going to go for (i have actually bought some parts for the conversion) but now i have changed my mind. and what jamie was hinting at is not the 2.0l

yesterday i made some enquires and i am having a inlet manifold made for a set of gsxr 750/1000 throttle bodies. i have spoken to a few people about a ecu, and i have tried to ring someone about a loom (but the fag never answered his phone  ) i am selling my 1400 and it will be replaced by a x16xe.

the thing with a 2.0l is they are better up untill a certain point, but that is usually well over the budget of most people. to get a 1600 16v to perform as well you need to spend a fortune, hopfully the way i'm doing it will cost less than ?300 without the ecu
