lol well this paint work will be by no means mint because the car is going to be used and abused on the tracks, so i wanted a paintjob that will be easy to sort if i get any chips and scratches and somthing that i wasnt going to cry about if it did start looking tatty.

i also wanted a car that looked fairly even so thats how i decided on matt black :D

i am not hoping to get a good finish thats the whole point, its a track car not a show car, i am not concerned with the finish of the paint.

dont waste your money on spray tins matey....go buy a tin of blackboard paint instead , it,ll make your motor look like something from Mad Max......

black board paint weighs too much and feels AWFULL!!!

as for using rattle cans... total false economy imo. you will need atleast ?200 worth to get a semi decent coverage to prevent rust and to be a consistent matt all over... id jsut go to a bodyshop and ask who much a cheap nasty blow over would cost.
The raw material paint cost will be approx ?100 if your not using the best products (why would you want to) and then a bit of labour etc..

you might not want a mint finish but im assuming that at the same time you dont want it to look a total pile of caka poo poo.

the cheapest quote i had from a bodyshop for a basic blowover was ?500, TBH i am not bothered at all about doing it myself with spraycans, and no i dont care if it looks like "a total pile of caka poo poo", this car is intended for the tracks not cruises and looking all shiney and nice

indeed welcome :P

i dont think myc ar looks nice, but its got a consistent finish and it was "only" about ?150 in materials and a bit of DIY sprayboothing... I guess its all down to you at the end of the day but i know for a fact that once the bonent is buffed on mine to remove some other colour paint that will be the last time its ever polished, and even in most cases repaired lol.

If ure not bothered about the paint work why u bothering to even spray it in the first place :?

Philsutton

Believe it or not andy but the metal will react with the atmosphere and rust. The paint is there to stop that and make it look wickad

ANDYRACER

What u mean u can buy novas without any paint at all :o I meant if u have the nova it is already going to have paint on it so just get a few rattle cans and paint the patches where the rust has come threw.

Philsutton
10-09-05, 05:40 PM
but that would mean painting it?

No he was on about giving the whole car a respray im just saying to do patches and blend it in to the original paint work.

What ever i dont care now. Well if it was me id go an get some fence paint and paint it with a brush. Not only will it last for years without the wood rotting but it looks really good with brush strokes in it.
