Hi, I put in a set of new clocks to my Nova - and as if by magic the car seems to be on average 10mph faster! I can tell cos everyone's driving through speed cameras faster than me, and my car doesn't usually cruise at 90mph so easily! Any ideas welcome - I figured the person who had it before may have removed the needle and put it back on wrong?

possibly calibrated differently - compare the Wnumber on both clocks

av got a set of sri clocks in ma car now, and its only a 1.2i, drivin at 30 is ok, but when am doin 80, am actually doing 70mph, a checked it against a m8s car on the motorway as i thought it was high.

Anyone have any ways of fixing the prob??

I have higher spec clocks in my 1200.
And they read the same speed as my old ones.

The W number is just to the right of the tripometer reset button.
The number is like the calibration code of that speedo, they need to match your new speedo, if they do, both are calibrated the same, so both will read the same.

ok cool, i peeled back fake lockwood white dials and found that the
"W" number is the same - this leads me to think then that in fitting the white dials he must have put the needle back on in the wrong place - So - Does anyone know how to fit the needle back on in the correct place - is there a location point or something? Cheers................

You dont remove the needles when fitting lockwood dials.

AFAIK the speedo needle can only go on one way, as it has a shaped cut-out that only fits on the speedo one way.
You couldn't remove the needle, and then put the needle back at 70mph when the speedo is at 0mph.
I think thats the case anyway.

i don't think that you can remove the needles from the dials, but i know that the magnets on the back can lose their strength. ui've got an sr speedo in the garage that is about 20mph out because of that.

As above
I couldn't remove the needle from my dials, as i was trying to swap the speedo face, but couldn't budge the needle even levering it with a couple of screwdrivers.

well the needle came off pretty easily!! so i rotated it about -10mph, pushed it back on and now it seems to read accurately at the crucial speeds (30/40mph).
thanks for the advice.
