well seen as the exhaust manifold heats up to well over 200c and your sitting stationary with the engine running and no airflow what exactly do you expect to happen

What do you mean too hot

where does the needle go to on the temperature guage?
If i leave my running when stationary, within about a minute the fan comes on.
As long as the temp needle isn't going to the red, then its fine.

i think if its a standard 1.2 then the bonnet shouldnt be scolding! hot yeah. as said whats the temp guage showing?? if there is a problem and it is over heating it could be a number of things, including a faulty water pump, air block, thermostat? or if its black or a dark colour the this would absorb a lot of heat.

need some more info.

it sounds like your headgasket could have gone, take your oil cap off and if it has a white substance in it with your oil that could be your problem
