Ben, i presume thats your name?
Just wondered if you could give me any info on the Mk2 Astra GTE electric mirror conversion?
Also how was it to wire-up so they work?
Any info greatly received.
Cheers,
Tony.
i wouldn't mind knowing this either

look on www.novaland.com
here ya go, quick guide......
Items Needed for Job :
Electric adjustable wing mirror motors from a Mk2 Cavalier including plastic bars, mounting screws and a decent length of loom.
Control switch from same car (located between gear stick and handbrake lever)
Extra wiring (get 3 meters of Red, Yellow and Green, and one meter of Black and Brown)
A wire stripper
A soldering Iron and decent electrical solder
Some heat shrink plastic (for the pro touch) or just use Electrical tape
A heat gun (for heat shrink plastic)
Some screwdrivers (flat blade and crosshead)
Before You Start :
Although the motors from the Cavalier are exactly the same as the rare nova electric mirrors the mirror has limited movement over the traditional manual adjusters.
Sometimes the motors can get jammed
The motors also have a habit of failing
Some people (as I) don't like the look of the controller that it in the Cavalier, it is very ugly as well as the fact that its big and therefore limits the places where it can be put. So I used the electric wing mirror controller from a 3.0 V6 senator (similar and very much smaller controllers can be found in Mk3 Cavaliers, Vectras, Calibras and Astras), the only problem with these controllers is that the wiring is usually a different colour and therefore a headache to wire up. For more information on this please e-mail me.
Time To Go For It :
1. First off the original manual linkage needs removing, working on one side at a time. Remove the plastic plate that covers the mounting screws. Unscrew them (be careful not to drop the wing mirror)
2. With the wing mirror removed the glass need to come out. Using Judicious manipulation (force) pull the glass out at the end closest to the manual adjuster, this may require a large amount of force.
3. When you manage to pop the glass out the glass will be connected to the adjuster linkage. I recommend trying to save the linkage just in case the motors don't work, this requires that linkage be popped out from the glass and then the linkage popped from the metal bar that you adjust the mirrors with. When you have done this slide the metal bar out (your will need to remove the plastic handle as well)
4. You will notice that on each motor there is a 'L' and 'R', this represents the left and right motor, place the correct motor into the space provided inside the wing mirror casing, it should fit perfectly with any problems. Screw it in place using the mounting screw from the Cav (DO NOT do up very tight, the plastic you are screwing into threads extremely easily).
5. I recommend that the wires be soldered to extend the motors loom be done now. Using the wire stripper, strip the wires (should be three, a red/black, a green and a yellow). Now solder the correct colours together and put heat shrink plastic over them to seal them. Now tape the wires together to make an extended loom.
6. Look at the wing mirror casing and there will be a hole somewhere, this is where the wires will go through. Feed the loom through.
7. Get the glass and the plastic rods from the Cavalier, pop the rods into the glass at the two points. Now you need to put the glass back in. Work this by putting the large ball joint in the glass up to the holder on the casing, now line the two rods up with the points on the motor. When you are confident everything is lined up then push the glass in. This may require a bit of force. Now you are ready to attach the wing mirror back on the door.
8. Look at the door from above without the wing mirror attached, you will notice there is a gap between the two skins, feed the loom down this gap. Now put the wing mirror back on the screw the screws back in (make sure the loom is not getting crushed in between).
9. The loom should now be hanging inside the door, feed the loom with the other wire that join in between the door and the car (going through the two rubber grommets. Once the loom is inside the car run it to where you are going to have the switch (next to the headlamp switch, centre console) then cut the loom with a decent amount of slack for the controller.
10. Now repeat sections 1-9 on the other wing mirror.
11. Now it is time to wire the controller up. First you will need to set up the power supply, some people wire it up on a direct feed from the battery. I wired it up through the ignition. Wire the Brown (live) up to the fuse box (using the extra brown wire to extend the wire) Wire it up to the fuse that powers the Electric windows (if fitted), if no electric windows are fitted then wire them up to a vacant space and fit a 10amp fuse. Wire the Black wire (earth) at the bodywork. Remember to seal the wires with heat shrink plastic.
12. If you are using the standard Cavalier controller then wire it up using the colour code. See diagram. If you are not using the standard controller then e-mail me.
13. That should be it now, turn the ignition on and test them out. Make sure they move up, down, left and right. If the motor gets stuck then manually move it.

Cheers for that guys, now i dont know whether to use my mirrors off the nova, or the astra mirrors and retain the heated mirror side of things!
hi
sorry just seen the thread,
i'm using all astra mk2 stuff,
now have a wiring loom from the inside of the car,
linked up to power(ing 12v) and earth to the switch,
then had to start making the loom of 14wires from the switch to the mirror... 7 each side, but least its just matching the colours up
did a quick test, and they work,
now make the loom and run it in and find a place 4 the switch...
will tell more as i go

Thanks to all who have replied, i think i will be going down the route of using the GTE mirrors and modifying door to fit the mirror onto.
Benxe'd keep us posted on how you did things!!!!!!
Cheers,
Tony.
will do mate,
have the pulg and loom sorted, ready to fit,
switch awaiting...
