I got my phone bill today......?329.09 :O :O :O and it's 99.99% internet connection charges!

SOOO, basically, it's about time I signed up to one of these "Internet Anytime" things, where you pay ?14.99 a month, and get free internet access, and my question is, who is currently using one of these services, and who do peeps recommend?

I've heard that the BT Internet Anytime can be slow to connect, and sometimes so busy that you can't connect at all, so I'm put off by that.
What about the Freeserve one, which is cheaper at ?12.99 a month.....so they allow business users? I need one that does you see, since it's mainly for business use!

I've also got a free CD from Tiscali, for their AnyTime package, which is ?14.99 a month like BT's.
I know that Virgin are also due to launch there AnyTime service, also at ?14.99 a month?

Decisions decisions!

Anyone had any probs with there's? Anyone recommend a certain ISP? Remember, they have to allow "Business users"!
I'm currently using Virgin Pay-As-You-Go, which is always reliable and fast....it just costs a fortune in phone bills!

Cheers guys ;)

Thought so....that's what I'd been told.

Any thoughts on the others?

The Tiscali one looks very good (Previously Lineone)....

Talking of fucking phone bills....I've just clocked up another ?1.61 :O (I've got TimeUp software to tell me!)

Better log off or I'll end up with another huge fucking phone bill!

Yeh....but I don't think I can get ntl in Sheffiled....not in my area anyway.
But then again.....my Aunt and Uncle had it, and they live on the same estate! Hum....I'll have to ask 'em what they thought of it....I know they recently changed though, so maybe it wasn't so good after all??

Yeh...you get disconnected every two hours don't ya! Could be very annoying, especially if part way through an up-load or down-load!

I've done a bit of surfing to find guide on the ISP's, and this seams a good place to start:
http://paler.com/internet_access.html

This is interesting too:

Bloody hell...I'm even more confused now lol!

I use AOL as well. Connects fine (most times) and costs ?14.99 per month with no calls. Only problem with AOL is with surfing. It is a bit crud when it comes to browsing. But once you are connected to the Internet that you can use Internet Explorer to piggyback down the AOL connection and it runs fine. No problems. I have got a whole load of AOL cd's if you want me to mail one out Rich. I still got your address.

It's ok Darren mate....I've got loads of free AOL CD's already...cheers though ;)
(BTW.....have you tried to install the elecy windows yet? You know where I am if you need any help ;))

I've found a list of the top 20 best ISP's (http://www.iwks.com/isps.asp) and NONE of the most well known ones are on there!

I think I'm gonna sign up with Clara.net It's number 7 on the list...I could choose one higher up, but I know Clara.net pretty well...I just didn't realise that they provided internet connection services. The others high in the list cater more for internet connection a on large corporate basis...like for hundreds of people in huge offices!
I only need the one connection for me working from home! Clara.net it is then......well, I'll have another look at some of the others on the list first.....

Try PLUSNET - I was with them for a while - had no probelms.
http://www.plusnet.co.uk/info2/business/bus_fixed.html
The Business lite account is 19.99 a month and the business account is 39.99 a month. Both allow unmetered access 24/7, they just give different amounts of web space/email addresses and cgi type stuff.
Before you ask - i cancelled the 24/7 thing as i was not using it enough to warrant paying the 15 quid a month. I got two jobs - both of which let me use the internet - so i just get everything sorted i gotta do online while at work.
They do adsl as well i think... If you'd be interested...

BT is a pain because of the 2hr boot thing

Orange.net is good nice and fast and 1p per min connection 24 7

all depends on cash though mate

You get what you pay for!!

AVOID AOL (Assholes On Line) like the plauge though
