right, still nto got this clunking sorted yet, looked at the cv's and nothin appears to wrong(no cracks). So i was goin to fit new lower ball joints.
now the noise only comes form one side, so will i just replace one side, or do both as one has went and the other would probably go after it ?
anything else i should replace while i'm down there ?
When does it do the noise?
The cv gaitor doesn't have to be split, but the cv can still be fooked.
The boot on my cv was fine, not leaking grease out etc, but when the guy at the garage changed the cv he says it was mashed to pieces.
It was causing a grinding and clonking when turning.
Its usually the outer cv on the opposite side to the direction you turn in when it does it.
I.e-turn right and it does the noise, it'll be the outer LEFT cv joint.

nah, ave done the full lock testing thing, but it just happens anywhere it wants.
i can mak ei thappen by accelrating hard an it will clonk an jump to the left, accelarator off quickly and it jumps to the right and clonks lol
but see if i take the accel off quick but put the clutch down, it saves it form doin it.
so im guessing my ball joints, or should i just get new outer cv's aswell to be on the safe side ?
its a 1.2 nova with a 1.2 corsa engine
Could be an engine mount.
definately sounds like an engine mount, agreed.
If you cant see any visual flaws in any of the mounts, open the bonnet and get a mate to ride on the clutch in first gear while you watch the engine. If a mounts gone the engine will probably try to join you on the pavement

i've tried this also, engine doesnt go very far to be honest, slight movement, but just normal a guess, it aint trying to kick the utter balls out the front of the motor.
the clunck comes from just infront of your feet at the pedal's, right foot.
will prob have to take it to a garage to get it checked if i cant see anythin else, tried it all jus abotu lol. suspension, cv's(although it was said it still coudl be so will need to be garaged), mounts, wheels, brakes - basically anythin down the right hand side tbh
it dies sound like a engine mount although it could also be a wheel bearing or a cv
