This caused a bit of interest at the weekend when i was racing so thought i would share.

Q. Your due to race in a few hours, the cam belt is so slack people warn you shouldnt start the car nevermind race it, the waterpump bolts are solid so moving the pump to tention the belt is impossible in the given timescale.

What do you do?

A. withdraw your entry? Risk it? nope:

Make a tentioner:

I cant take the credit it was my dad, it was made out of an exhaust clamp, a few nuts and bolts, a bit of tube and some grease.

Done the job and lasted until the engine cooked itself on the last heats (still unknown why)

just thought i would share :)

i use the one from a 1600 16v one the block- keith will be able to tell you as hes seen it on another customers competition engine.

but a 1300 racer - the belt should be quite slack... the thermal exapansion of head on an oval engine is huge!!
