Hi all

Havnt been on the net now for a few weeks as ive been busy working and trying to get the nova finished ready for Germany.

My bad luck started about 2 weeks ago when i sent the evo for its 2000 mile service and to have a wheel bearing done or so i thought! Got the phone call saying we have done the service and the bearing but the noise is still there, sorry to tell you but the main gearbox bearings have gone! :o  Oh and its ?1000 to out it right

Seeing as the bearings were allready done 8000 miles ago at a cost of you guessed it ?1000 you can imagine i am a little mad. To the point where i am seeking legal advice as i feel the job initially done by Mitsubishi was obviously not up too scratch. So now the evo is sitting in the garage gathering dust when all i want to do is drive it.

Secondly having finished putting the new gearbox in the nova, i decided to go and pick it up from andys in stoke on friday night. I left andy at 11.00 pm and arrived in Birmingham at 6am!!!!!!

The gearbox had decided to empty its entire contents of oil all over stafford services. And as i couldnt trace the leak i called the AA to see if they could help. 3 hours later the monkey mechanic arrived, looked at it and said ' I cant fix that '. I then had to wait another 2 hours for the flat bed to pick me up and to add insult to injury they charged me ?125 to get home.

Turns out all the problem was, was the small plastic plug was missing on the back of the gear selector!

Anyway i stayed up all day cleaning the mess up and sorting the problem, then spent all night sunday getting it ready for its MOT today. And for once some good luck it passed! So just finished doing the cambelt tonight, all it needs now is tax and set up on the rolling road and the willwoods fitted, then its ready for the ring! :D

As for the evo, it isnt going anywhere. Was going to sell it this month aswell, but ive had to insure it and the nova this week :( All i need to do now is work out how to afford to go to the ring. Never mind all will be fine in the end.

Word of warning, stick to your novas though they are just as bad!

Thats the problem with Japanese cars, bloody expensive to fix when they go wrong...! Got problems with the gearbox on mine which I'm hoping is just the gear selector bushes...

Too right they are, i wont tell you what ive spent on the evo this year as it hurts me to think about it. Love it to bits though so well worth it imo.

I will be moving to the dark side as soon as i can though and selling the evo, will be getting a ford! changed my mind about the next car.

Thanks guys

Was really mad with myself Benji, that i had payed ?125 when all it was was a plastic plug worth about 10p. Was so dark though i just couldnt find the leak. Wouldnt of thought it would of leaked so much from such a small hole!

Like i say, these things happen just a shame they cost so damn much.

it is rather impressive how you can get 2 litres of oil through such a small hole in such a short space of time lol.

and its an easily forgotten thing, but since the comedy with benjis one ive checked the bung is there on every gearbox that ive touched lol.

the new ST will be facking class ;) they look everyso sexy in the flesh (which is novel for most fords)

Hope its sorted and its ok for ya now mate. SORRY!!
If its any conselation my Nova failed its MOT on Saturday morning. Bloody passenger side handbrake not good enough!! Of all the things to fail on. Sorted in half hour, took it back and got me ticket, so Trax here we come!!

Morning all

Thanks for the comments of support lol, like Dan said its just one of the set backs from owning an evo but well worth the trouble.

Wont be getting an ST, too boring lol. I went on sunday to look an RS 500, as i am now after a car to keep long term and not lose so much money on it. The RS i looked at wasnt whati am after so will keep looking, i am in no rush to sell the evo so when the right one comes up i will move on.

Martin, dont worry yourself mate its not your fault! If i had put my glasses on i would of seen it was missing lol. Think i caught itin time so fingers crossed the box will be ok.
