Well affter looking through some old issuse of TV and i pland on getting one before the nova but the pricess wer too high and i was not earning enough to buy one..

But i have been looking around and there is some real cheep corsa B's out there (not full of rot may i add) and im thinking i could either buy one as an everyday car and xe it,or buy one and put all my engein and components into it making it a fast road/shower,then do something els with the nova like 1.6 8vt40 it or 1.6 16vtb,i just get these mad impulesses to buy another car! i realy dont know what to do..

i'd buy one for an everyday car, and xe it, then just use the nova for the track, remove everything possible you don't need and have a track monster

Not a fan of the corsas imho they look like rollerskates on wheels. Plus they rust just as bad as novas! U would of thought vauxhall would have sorted the problems they had with the novas well apart from the plastics arches.

i've seen lots of early corsa's and there no were near as rotton as a nova, the only place i've seen a rotton panel on a corsa is on the bonnet

just buy a corsa as a run about scott, keep the nova as a track car

You serious they rot in the corner of the doors, underneath on the outriders, the bootdoor always goes and the roofs rust around the wind screen rubbers. Oh and also the front struts rust aswell.

When my SR's shell finally gets too bad I will most likely re-shell all the bits into a corsa b if I cant find a good enough nova shell. Allthough i have recently been thinking of converting the SR for track-use and getting a frontera for day to day driving, also because the 'tera would be big enough to pull the SR around on a trailer!

corsa b's also have the problem of cracking across the pillars, and im sure thats near a good thing. An that has nothing to do with whether its had a crash or not. Plus they are to fat.

I thought you said big block was the way foward :P I reckon you should get a corsa gsi or 1.6 sport and put the 2l in the corsa and put the 1.6 16v in the nova on throttlebodies

couple of points about rust...

the early pre-facelifed corsa's (including the gsi) had problems with the B pillers craching, nearly every gsi i have seen has this problem, they also had problems with the chassis legs. both face lift and pre facelift have problems with the boot lid rotting, especially round the rear wiper and where the spoiler meets the body work at the bottom on the rear window. however there are plenty of non-rotten ones. I wouldnt say they rot anywhere near as bad as the nova, but what you need to remember is the age difference between a 1.6 sport and the latest nova! the 1.6 sport was made in 1996 onwards....
If fyour going to get one id go for the 1.6 sport, its alot newer than the gsi, and has a few more toys as standard, also you dont have the pesky abs that is boud to give problems....

But on that note you may as well buy a 1400 sport for cheaper insurance.

I never had any problems with my B pillars nor did my mate on his Sport and his GSI most of them were sorted by the warrenty anyways. With the sports you also have the dodgy plastic pully which can break, a quick pop down to Vx dealer will tell you what pullys you have. (Its the cam tensioner pully IIRC)

depends if he wants the 1.6 16v engine for his nova really! when you stick a 2ltr in it really doesn'y matter what car it was before the insurance will be the same if it was a merit or a gsi...

regarding the pulleys: they do break if they aren't replaced every 40,000miles as the guide says, however i did 60 on mine and they were fine, when it comes to replace them stick a set of SBD metal rollers on there which last forever, aa complte cam belt kit from them with metal rollers is ?90ish delivered! not to much more than a vauxhall kit. also the plastic rollers were on the gsi and the sport (all 16v corsa engines bar the 1.2 which has a timing chain)

the sports didn't have problems with the b pillers was the sri and the gsi, some did get fixed but they came back after a while.
