View Full Version : My new run around (sorry buts its a Ford)

So the GTE is still being worked on and I needed a little run around to get to work and shit.

Through my gf's parents I managed to find an automatic fiesta on the Isle Of Wight (some of you might have seen the earlier posts) Turns out that instead of buying the car for ?50 the fella said he wanted rid of it and i could have it.

It had a knackered gear box but was still driveable so i started the hour and a bit journey back to Oxford. Christ knows how i managed to get home, the car would pull away real slowly and take about 300 metres to get up to 15 miles an hour. It made it with a little luck... all the traffic lights were on green :-)

So anyway I managed to source a replacement gear box which wasnt too expensive and was just a case of taking out the old and in with the new.

We just dropped the old one out with a little help from a trolley jack but luckily it was my little brothers birthday the week before and he got the nice new engine hoist in the photo. Bloody good job because the box weighed around 50kgs.

Also had to replace one of the c.v joints and mot and tax the bugger. It sailed through the MOT which was a nice surprise. I've kinda got used to the garages telling me my previous Nova's have failed.

So I'm expecting most people to rip into me for driving a ford but i fancied something different just for a couple of months. Might even try and sell it on for a profit as its low mileage, body works not bad and interior is mint.

Even so I couldnt resist buying some clear indicators for it ;-)

I really must say MK3's body shape is horrible in Fiesta's I love the MK2 there so easy to mod and look really stylish and the MK1 well I dont need to say it everybody knows its a classic. Yours looks in really good nick though get some XR21 bumpers for it and it will double its value. Another good tip stay clear of the lexus lights they have chav written all ova them get some tinting spray ?8.99 motosave and give it two coats. White bodywork with smoked lights will look mint

Here's a good example for you to work upto

It started life as a standard 1.3 looks mint now

A vast improvement over the orange indicators and all for about ?3 a side.

I've also got my eye on some tinted rear light lenses. Although they do look a little too dark for plods liking.

I am also after a set of XR2i alloys.

Just gotta make sure I dont let the GTE fall to the side lines.

Front bumper lower valance from an SR/GTE??

Matt those rear lights should be fine mate as long as they have red reflector on them, which it looks like they do, they shouldn't be a problem.

Lol everyone stated doing that to there cars aftter i did,the top strip is window tint much better for not wanking your wiper blades up,and the light brows i made my self from some black sticky back plastic,i use to have some on the fogs and cut it in oval shapes,no one know what car it was behind at night, and the blue indercators is shrink wrap

As i said it was a fair few years ago,and not to mention money was not so easy in my pocket,so cheep mods for cheep times.

No silly, how it met its maker as in a 20 yr old Cleica when the paint work STOPS holding the rest of the car together meets its maker.
