1.2 spi filter - will it fit a corsa with a 1.2 8v engine?

just a quicky - I have a green cotton air filter (air box replacement) off a nova 1.2 spi - will it fit my mates corsa? his engine is the 8v type - but there are wires on the airbox, if i remember these wires are also on novas,(red and black i think ) what are they please?
