Firstly, check the dipstick for what level its at. If its too high just drain some out via the plug in the bottom of the sump. 4.5ltrs should be about right if you fully drained it, it should be fine, e.g no damage done.

also any extra you put in should have been burned away, i wouldnt worry, check your level then drain any excess away through the sump plug.

no over filling will fook your engine, get rid of the excess as soon as.

i as under the impression taht 4.5 litres was fine......
esp with a filter change.

I can't beleive you didn't check the dipstick after lol.

if its a nova engine then i normally only end up putting 3-3.5 in as that gets it to max on the dipstick even with a filter change. The 2lt 16v take about 4.5 as far as i can remember.

if its coming out near the flywheel then it might be the crank seal gone

iirc 3.5 litres for C16SE & E16SE, all others OHC 3 litres.
