What RPM are doing @70mph

I'm getting just over 3000rpm.

The nova shocked us again this weekend by doin 110 :o in 4th (private lane)

i used to be able to hit the limiter in 4th at 120 in my 1400 and 2lt, but that speedo readings and is probably no where near that

don't taint my glow it almost made up for the drivers window falling half way down the door.

I haven't hit the limiter in any gear other than first

Is the RPM reading likely to be false too.

Whats the best way to tackle the window problem. Very stiff to unwind down for the first inch but when get past that it's much easier. Winding up is fine too. I don't think it's come of the runners. I'll have to consult Mr haynes.

what gerbox and FD have you got? and also measure from the centre of the wheel to the floor in mm for me. ill destroy your glow if im lucky lol

Gear box is all standard as far as i know so i guess the final drive would be too.

You'll have ta wait till tommorow morning for me to get the mm as i haven't got internet at home

it's a GTE still haven't mesaured the wheel to the ground

i shall assume you have 15" alloys on tallish profiles or 16's on lowish profiles.

70 @3000rpm is perfectly acceptable in 5th

and 110 in 4th will be 5750 ISH rpm.

with 195/50r15 and the GTE's standard CR374 box 3000rpm in 5th is 60mph and you'll do 110 at the limiter in 4th

only way i can see of even coming close to your numbers is by using a WR394 box? which was only really fitted to 5 speed 1.2i's and cavaliers/astras

it was on the WR calc. but ive seen WR gearboxes come off GTE/GSI's :s scary lol

Sounds like he has a WR box. My F13 WR came from an E16SE GTE.
